Spice officially met her rhino friend and had the special honor of naming her with a generous donation of just $10 USD! What an incredible ambassador we have representing Uganda and showcasing the beauty of our country to the world. 🇺🇬🦏✨ She chose the name “Nankula Spice”inspired by the beautiful Ugandan name given to her by the Prime Minister of the Buganda Kingdom. A proud moment celebrating wildlife conservation, culture, and Uganda’s rich heritage. ❤️ #ExploreUganda #Namearhino

I had the pleasure of hosting the Jamaican Queen of Dancehall, SPICE, at the Kingdom Headquarters, Bulange. Her presence in Uganda is a powerful reminder of how global cultural icons can elevate our visibility on the world stage. As she prepares to perform this Saturday, 9th May, at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, I encourage Ugandans to come out and experience her craft. Beyond the stage, her collaboration with the Uganda Tourism Board @TourismBoardUg and the Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board @TourBugandaUG to tour and showcase Uganda’s beauty is commendable. Today’s visit to the Kasubi Royal Tombs is part of that meaningful effort. When influential figures like Spice choose Uganda, they do more than perform, they tell our story to the world, attract global attention, and open doors for tourism, culture, and investment. This is the power of cultural exchange, positioning Uganda as a destination of choice. #ExploreUganda

After a full night of practicing how to carry herself with humility in a Gomesi while on her live , she stepped out today with grace ready to meet the Prime Minister of Buganda and tour the Palace with her team. In his speech, the Katikkiro emphasized that only elders have the authority to give a name. Considering Spice’s life journey, he officially bestowed upon her the name “Nankula,” from the Nkula (Rhino) clan. She now proudly holds her Ugandan name “NANKULA” #SpiceliveinUganda #ExploreUganda

Honored to have been part of the Uganda National Premiere and Gala Dinner of "Back to the Source, The Nile" over the weekend. The film captures a feeling, a rhythm, and a side of Uganda that words alone often miss. Big respect to @Ssenyonyiderick and @Nsababera_juju for crafting something so raw and intentional, and I hope other missions can pick something from it too for the better of our country. #BackToTheSourceTHENILE

In her speech, @Nsababera_juju emphasized that #BackToTheSourceTheNile represents more than a film. It is an innovative platform shaping how Uganda tells its story globally. She expressed appreciation to the Government of Uganda for driving the country from potential to global relevance. And highlighted that true transformation lies not only in infrastructure, but in identity, narrative, and human storytelling. She concluded by reaffirming that Uganda is not just a destination, but a source whose story must be told boldly and authentically.

In 1882, Kabaka Muteesa 1 made a decision that quietly reshaped Buganda’s history. He established a royal palace on Kasubi Hill, a place that, at the time, served as a center of political power and royal life. It was here that he lived, ruled, and engaged with both local leaders and foreign explorers who were beginning to arrive in the region. But in 1884, everything changed. Muteesa 1 passed away, and instead of abandoning the palace, the kingdom transformed it. The royal residence became a burial ground. This was not just a practical decision, it was symbolic. It blurred the line between life and death, between leadership and legacy. Kasubi Tombs was no longer just a palace, it became a sacred site where the Kabaka’s presence would continue to be felt. This transformation marked the beginning of a new tradition, one that redefined how Buganda kingdom honored its kings. It also laid the foundation for what became one of the most culturally significant sites in Africa today. #ExploreUganda #KasubiTombs

Kasubi Tombs: A UNESCO World Heritage Site This is a royal burial ground where Kabaka (the kings of Buganda) are buried in the Muzibu Azaala Mpanga building. Four of them rest here, including the founding father of modern Uganda, Kabaka Mutesa I. When fire reduced Muzibu Azaala Mpanga to ash in 2010, it wasn't just a UNESCO site we lost but our spiritual portal—the sacred forest where our departed kings continue to speak to the living through spirit mediums. The tombs were rebuilt the way our ancestors built, and now they're open again. Why visit? Nowhere else will you see a 25-foot dome woven entirely from reeds, spear grass, and bark cloth and no modern materials (world’s biggest grass-thatched house). You will feel the cool stillness beneath the thatch, and stand before the bark cloth curtain where Kabaka never truly die. #ExploreUganda |#KasubiTombs

Walking through the compound that houses the Kasubi Tombs, the main path leads to what should be an entrance. But it ends at one of the layers of thatch covering the 25-foot structure known as Muzibu Azala Mpanga. It looks like a giant basket turned upside down. If it weren’t for the rows of shoes laid neatly outside, you’d never know there was a way in. cnn.it/3QeESJn
