Today Elon Musk is making the divisive and inflammatory charge that the British police come down heavy on white thugs but give a green light to alleged Muslim ones, and he is endorsing for his almost 200m followers other claims that seek to sow animosity between communities, such as that the courts and authorities are somehow soft on Muslim criminals. Here is what may or may not elude Musk. The election was barely a month ago, and if there is “two-tier policing” today then there would have been on Sunak’s watch too. Since Sunak presumably believes the police and courts were and are even handed in their treatment of different ethnicities and religions, shouldn’t Sunak say something to Musk?
