I hate it when I get a perfect, logically consistent & genuinely valid argument concluding tweet to then find my opponent was a less than a month old Twitter trolling tool who doesn’t actually Care about logic, facts or objective reality so proving anything to them can’t be done.

Well, Putin gets the Ukraine, China gets Taiwan, human rights go down the drain and this site becomes even more toxic. The future looks so depressing.

@Van6ogh @OlooneyJohn @PicturesFoIder Yeah, Romans were able to prove the world was round but vaccines took cow pox to defeat chicken pox. SARS vaccines were developed but not mass produced and going from them to Covid was easier than starting from scratch. Science is fun.

Christian fundamentalists have been a source of scorn and ridicule for a long time in most of the west. I guess it just doesn't have verisimilitude for me. It's not a plausible future scenario to me, so I have trouble suspending my disbelief enough to engage with the story seriously.

Alberta seeks to do the same for the oil industry and I can’t stop my premier from being openly corrupt and promising a new boat.

@ryankatzrosene its a government trying to prop up share prices in a fading industry.

A lot of people are responding (correctly) that there’s not likely sufficient future market demand to support a doubling of Alberta oil and gas. But that’s not the point! The point is: a) a responsible government would be attuned and responding carefully to global market shifts and recognize the vulnerabilities it poses to Alberta’s economy to double down (literally) on fossil fuels; b) a responsible government would put resources into envisioning a sustainable future and leveraging existing assets to modernize its (higher value) exports, not expand upon dirty lower value raw commodities; and c) a responsible government would focus on cleaning up the cumulative environmental damages that have accrued over the last half Century of expanding oil production, not trying to make that task *twice as difficult*! 🤬

@TheGeoHussar @benphillips76 This is the truth of it, but you can shift it from Trumpism to a general population of conservative thinkers. My own father isn’t quite as gone as Trump, but he trusts ‘what worked in the past’ over what his doctors are telling him now and for some reason he isn’t getting better.

I am so tired of watching the world get divided into those who listen and practice good science, empathy and sympathy and those who run on hate, ignorance and fear mongering. It shouldn’t be a 50/50 divide. Ignorance & hate shouldn’t draw equal numbers to knowledge & empathy.
