AMPAS/Oscar CEO Bill Kramer apparently blocked me on Instagram last night after seeing my post expressing disappointment about the broadcast’s In Memoriam omission of my father.

@kevinkfyam Unless she's being v specific to Koreans (or even more so Koreans living outside Korea) she seems to be forgetting the entire anime industries in Japan, China etc that have been thriving for ages & if it's Oscars that determine things Ghibli won Oscars more than 20 years ago.

This is an example of Asians living in the West forgetting about Asians in Asia - both Parasite and Squid Game won lots of mainline awards in the US, but I guess because they are actual Koreans and not Korean Americans, they don’t count in the eyes of some.
