The last thing Althusser has done to Marxists is dull their minds. If anything, Althusser has made Marxists too scholastic. This post is right that his influence is vast, everyone from anti-imperialist Marxists to analytic Marxists to Richard Wolff are influenced by Althusser. The best critiques of Althusser are not EP Thompson in my view, its from Isabelle Garo & Ellen Meiksins Wood.

One man more than anyone has dulled and warped the minds of the contemporary left; his influence is felt everywhere and many don’t realise they are in his thrall.

Imagine that. She went to literal Nazi rallies as a teenager, that's how fa right she is. But Italians shut the whole country down twice for Palestine this year...and that's why she changed her tune

"I do perceive a kind of progress in the history of philosophy, but it's one that is not straightforwardly linear. It's the 'progress' of waves wearing away rock. The history of philosophy is the progressive unfolding of conceptual labyrinths implicit in simple questions."
John@ErrorTheorist

Here’s a paper arguing that there is no progress in philosophy. The author claims that if Aristotle visited a modern university, he would be amazed by modern physics but feel at home in the philosophy classes, since the debates haven’t fundamentally changed. What do you think?

Cuando la fuerza de la unificación -decía Hegel- "desaparece de la Vida de los humanos y las oposiciones pierden su relación, surge entonces la necesidad de la Filosofía".

I don't meet new people. New people meet me. And I pretend to be stupid by asking them to help me answer basic questions like "What is courage?" "What is Justice?" "What is peity?" And they eventually abscond from my presence.

Coming this summer! Ali Kadri’s essential investigation into the role of waste (of people and nature) in capitalism. “Destruction becomes the principal commodity produced by capital. Militarism will lead accumulation, which will theoretically demolish any limit to capital.”

One of the main things to learn from historical study is that there has not been for quite some time "a way things work." Things only work in a way if they are patterns that reproduce themselves intergenerationally. This hasn't happened for us in quite some time.
