@JeffVanderstelt Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. Acts 20:28NIV It seems to allow for overseer and Pastor/Shepherd to be used interchangeably. No?

Pastor and medium? 🤔 “But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,” 1 Timothy 4:1 Old Testament Condemnations • Deuteronomy 18:10-12”Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD...”. • 1 Samuel 15:23 “For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry”. New Testament Warnings • Galatians 5:20 (NIV): “idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions” are listed as “acts of the flesh”. • Revelation 22:15 (NIV): “Outside are the dogs, sorcerers, sexually immoral, murderers, idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood”. Examples in Scripture • 1 Chronicles 10:13-14: King Saul died for being unfaithful and consulting a medium instead of the LORD. • Acts 19:19: Many in Ephesus who practiced magic burned their spellbooks after believing the Gospel. Biblical Methods for Seeking God’s Will: • Study the Scriptures: The Word of God is a “lamp to my feet” and reveals many of God’s general desires, such as sanctification, avoiding immorality, and giving thanks in all circumstances. • Pray for Wisdom: James 1:5 promises that if anyone lacks wisdom, they should ask God, who gives generously. • Renew Your Mind: Romans 12:2 instructs believers not to conform to the world but to be transformed by the renewing of their minds to “test and approve” what God’s will is. • Submit and Trust: Proverbs 3:5-6 advises to trust in the Lord and not lean on personal understanding, allowing Him to make paths straight. • Seek Godly Counsel: Consulting with wise, mature believers can help in discerning the right path. • Obey Known Commands: God often reveals the next step only after we obey the previous one. • Wait Patiently: Seeking involves waiting on the Lord’s timing, trusting that He will guide at the right time. #god #christianity #jesus #bible #christian #jesusChrist #medium #witchcraft #sorcery #demons #devil#satan #lucifer #truth

American Christians have been trained to react to very specific sins while ignoring others. This is why many will be quick to speak against the deviant practices of those within the LGBTQ+ community, yet see no issue with IVF.

Haliburton back in. McConnell takes a seat. Truly wonder how long that lasts in a game like this.

@JFlan33 @cnieuwhof I don’t even know what “powerful sermon in this context” means. “And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”1 Cor.2

@cnieuwhof I do agree preachers can’t preach 48 times a year, but DEFINITELY disagree that the lead pastor should be preaching 38% of the time. That’s a LARGE part of their job. I think about 32-35 times a year is appropriate. That’s about 65-70% of the time.

If I’m honest, I don’t think anyone can deliver a powerful message in today’s context 48 times a year. As my friend Jeff Henderson hauntingly asks leaders, “How many truly great messages do you have in you per year?” The first time he asked that question, I thought, “Um, zero.” But the real answer isn’t 0 or 48. It’s probably under 30, though. Maybe it’s closer to 20. Which is why team teaching is such a great idea. Not only do you not have the pressure of preaching 48 times a year, but the congregation gets exposed to different voices and different styles.  When I was a younger preacher, I was too insecure to want to have other preachers who might be better than me stand up to preach. These days, I crave it.

You'd never guess the Pacers were a 47-win team with the 6th-highest scoring offense in NBA history and one of the best records against above .500 teams by the way people talk about them
Rusty@PacersStatsMuse

The Pacers are the 2nd youngest team in the playoffs. 7 players are in the 1st playoffs of their career & only 1 player has any real playoff experience. So injury excuses aint gonna fly around here. The rebuild has been a huge success and these guys have every reason to celebrate
