D23 tickets options are really confusing. I want 3 days of convention access and one Honda show, but no idea what the cheapest way to do this is, despite reading the news article several times.

my mates older brother worked at a tech company in dublin for 6 years senior developer €95K salary - stock options - private health insurance - gym membership - free lunch every day - the whole package he was the "safe" one in the family every christmas his dad would say "at least one of you has a proper job" got laid off on a tuesday morning at 11:14am not even a meeting a google calendar invite that said "organisational update" followed by a zoom with someone from HR hed never met badge deactivated before the zoom ended 6 years of loyalty and they couldnt even do it in person he messaged my mate that afternoon "im getting let go" "what? why?" "they said theyre restructuring the team around AI workflows. my whole department is gone" "the whole department?" "14 people. all gone. theyre replacing us with 3 contractors and some AI tools i literally helped implement last quarter" he trained the system that replaced him spent his last few months building internal documentation and AI workflows thinking he was making himself more valuable he was making himself REPLACEABLE took him 4 months to find another job and the one he found pays €71K €24K paycut because the market is flooded with senior devs who all got the same tuesday morning zoom call meanwhile my mate - who his dad always called "the one messing around on his laptop" - runs a small agency doing about €20K/month no employer no single client thats more than 15% of his revenue no HR department that can end his income with a calendar invite when his brother got laid off my mate offered to help him out financially his dad went quiet at christmas dinner this year heres what nobody tells you about "job security": there is no such thing as job security when one decision from someone youve never met can delete your income overnight the only real security is having a system that generates revenue whether you show up or not not one boss who decides your worth not one client who holds all the power not one platform that can change the rules a system cold email is mine 5,000 emails go out every morning at 6am whether im awake or not if one client leaves tomorrow i have 30 more replies sitting in my inbox by lunch my income doesnt depend on one persons mood or one companys quarterly earnings call it depends on a system i built that runs EVERY single day the people getting laid off right now are some of the smartest most skilled people on the planet and it didnt matter because they had one income source controlled by someone else build something that cant be taken away from you with a calendar invite your job isnt safe your client isnt permanent your employer doesnt care about your 6 years of loyalty but a system that books you calls every morning doesnt give a shit about any of that it just runs

Amazon just confirmed 16,000 layoffs but sources inside are telling me the real story is so much worse Word from three different VPs: the 16K number is just "Phase One" - internal docs show another 14,000 cuts planned for Q2 A director in AWS walked me through their new "efficiency matrix" - entire teams being replaced by 2-3 senior engineers running Claude Sonnet workflows The Alexa division got completely hollowed out. 847 engineers two months ago. 23 remaining after this week. All hardware development moved to a Bangalore team of 31 contractors with Cursor access Here's the sick part: they're making the outgoing engineers document their entire decision-making process into "knowledge transfer sessions" that are being recorded and fed directly into training datasets One L7 told me he spent his final two weeks creating detailed prompt libraries and workflow documentation. Thought he was being helpful for the transition Turns out he was literally training the AI agent that replaced his entire org The contractors offshore are using his exact prompts and shipping features 40% faster than his old team of 12 Americans ever did Internal Slack shows leadership celebrating "operational excellence" while badges get deactivated in real-time They're calling it "right-sizing for the AI era" in the all-hands But the P&L sheets I'm seeing show $280M in salary savings this quarter alone The knowledge extraction is complete If you're still at Amazon and haven't started job hunting, you're already dead

@rankingthemouse I wonder how much of this is the internationalization of the ships? It was really notable on the UK Fantasy cruise that the adult pools and kids clubs were almost deserted because British families tend to not want to split up for the day in the same way US families do.

@lukefmorris Yup it's a fantastic machine but clearly not for anyone who is interested enough to do deep research into whether a particular laptop is right for their needs. If they need to ask, it probably isn't.

yep. The neo will be the default option for students, grandparents & maybe even commuters? For me it sits in the same bracket (weirdly enough) as the iPhone Air…in that it’s 100% a vibes purchase. Anyone putting thought into whether it’s “right” for them is missing the point…

Good for him! 🌈 Gay rights are one of the things the Dutch are pioneers in and I'm proud to be Dutch for that Traveling the world when you're Dutch you quickly see how the rest of the world isn't as tolerant as the Netherlands The last few decades the Netherlands has actually become less tolerant exactly by importing people from countries that hate gays, which I think they should have never Tolerance is a fundamental part of Dutch culture but we should not tolerate the intolerant "Unconditional tolerance leads to the destruction of a tolerant society"

Rob Jetten has been sworn in as the Netherlands’ new Prime Minister. He becomes simultaneously the first openly homosexual and youngest (38) leader in the country’s history.

@rankingthemouse I never understood why Hollywood Rip Ride was in New York. This could have been the perfect chance to fix that calling it New York Drift or whatever.

My personal (& unneeded) opinions on UOR's Fast & Furious: ELITE Unique layout GREAT Replacing a 🚮 coaster GOOD Quick opening timeline AVG IP is solid but tired BAD Copying USH coaster AWFUL So many better IPs available INEXCUSABLE "Hollywood" name/theme is laughably lazy

Visiting Galaxy's Edge before the timeline changes was like going to see a classic band play where they only do new material but don't play any of the hits. It's enjoyable enough, but not what you quite had in mind when you booked to see them.

@Oddernod @DreamfinderGuy 100%. I love that sort of immersive roleplaying and would have spent the money but had no interest in what I saw which seemed to be Star Wars in name only. I want to be on a grungy cargo ship not a luxury yacht.

@DreamfinderGuy Agreed. If they went OT characters from the onset, the Starcruiser would still have a waitlist…

It’s pretty great how they took the lore of Galaxy’s Edge so deeply seriously, especially with the Starcruiser in Florida, and now seven years later they finally realized people want Star Wars in their Star Wars land and just caved into that
Scott Gustin@ScottGustin

NEW: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland will expand its timeline on April 29, bringing Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo into the land as it expands to include the Galactic Civil War and New Republic, as well as the Age of the Resistance and First Order.

@DreamfinderGuy @Tylon_The_Ninja Even if you haven't seen Fantastic Beasts, Wizarding Paris is spectacular. But Batuu, with only Rey and Kylo and certainly no Star Wars music... it's like going on an empty set of a film you haven't seen, rather than a magical place you've been transported to.

@imakethasums @MHawk9955 They had some music in the rides, and some random diagetic sounds in the land, but you never heard the Star Wars theme or the Imperial March like you hear the Harry Potter theme in Wizarding World. Star Wars without music just doesn't feel like Star Wars.

It's a shame the current Imagineers weren't in charge during the Starcruiser days or we could have had a successful reworking to the film and characters people actually like, and a success, instead of stubbornly sticking to Kylo and Rey until they drove it into the ground.
