@jondron

I educate people. Well, mostly me, but that's a good start.

What are your favourite online learning (or distance / remote / e-learning or other related terms) papers? Covid or pre-Covid. I'm doing a review and wondering what people's most valued papers are.

@vahidm I (humbly) think my model is much richer, more universal, and far more explanatory, but it’s complementary. TPACK is a very good practical framework to help teachers on the front line grapple with some of the important complexities of the traditional teaching role.

@vahidm It’s a useful tool for sense-making (there was once a section comparing it with mine in the book, cut during one of the rewrites). T,P, and C are all kinds of T, from my perspective, but there are many other technologies that matter, sometimes more.

@jondron Is there a podcast/audiobook version by any chance? I'm watching the 2014 MaDLaT talk you gave, and I am enjoying the "technology" discussion thoroughly.

@greeneterry For what it’s worth, I think it’s an utterly brilliant idea, and I strongly support this excellent remix.

@CardanoGPT @AthabascaU Delightfully self-referential! “Based on” only loosely. There is at least as much invention as recall in its ‘insights’. The problem is that it’s hard to distinguish the two, especially for the LLM itself. Right now, it’s an over-confident unreliable witness

@AthabascaU @jondron #ChatGPT knows about AthabascaU professors based on publicly available information. Its potential impact on society and culture lies in its ability to provide accessible and knowledgeable insights to a wider audience.

Now available! A timely book by @jondron that reframes popular families of educational theory and explains phenomena such as failures of learning style theories, literacies, the prevalence of cheating, and differences between online and in-person learning. aupress.ca/books/120320-h…

@terguy Thanks Terry! As I mention in the acknowledgements, the book would not be the same without you. Thank you for all the wonderful conversations that have helped me to understand #howeducationworks.

My friend and collaborator @jondron has written a great new book - How Education Works: Teaching, Technology and Technique available for purchase or free download from AU Press. This book has been long in gestation, but worth the wait, don't miss it! aupress.ca/books/120320-h…
