@IslesGirl3 Unfortunately, once they brought in Schenn, it made Lee expendable. Lee’s been a good captain, but the reality is this team has been bad and lacked readiness the past 5 ssns. Time for new leadership.

Some parts of isles nation that want Lee gone just got so pissed lol I personally would love Lee back for the right price

The Islanders are top 10 in Goals Against this season and acquired two prospects that are very promising. Cherry on top was Emil Heineman getting over 20G. There’s a lot to critique of about them now, but Noah Dobson’s exit was the best transaction in the past year. #Isles

@timyos325 @IslesDen @PizzaSportsGuy The reality is Darche could have done nothing, and they may have been in better or equally position to make the playoffs. End of day, it’s his job to evaluate team and manage long-term vs short-term. Darche failed in that effort.

@IslanderFansNYI Disaster trade deadline. Darche should not have veered away from the initial plan, which probably would have also ped to selling either JGP or Lee. The isles overachievment for 2/3rds of san hurt this franchise. Which is all very islanders.

So the “trying to stay competitive” phase for the #isles resulted in us trading away a 1st and two 3rd round picks while adding multiple +30 year old players. Obviously this resulted in us also not gathering assets for JGP and Anders Lee. The second window, which is the only true window where the #isles can win a cup has been significantly negatively impacted because people believe this team has a chance to be competitive, when we have missed the playoffs in back to back seasons and we have won 3 playoff games in the last 5 seasons….with a veteran laden core.

Unsurprisingly, PP basically ends #Isles ssn. 0-5 and a shg. Unacceptable. This roster will never accomplish anything. Darche needs to revamp this core. This group isn’t it.

@shamrockmarc I don’t hate Schenn, but I do hate that they traded a 1st rounder to acquire a 35yo w/ 2 years left on his deal at a $6.5mil AAV. It was an overpay, even if it did mean getting Drouin off the books.

@nicolefshirman He’s 18yo, and is now playing for a potential HoF coach, but sure… I’m sure he and his family are so disappointed. Give me a break! DeBoer is a massive upgrade over Roy.

Matthew Schaefer proceeded to play a very reasonable 24:50 (the most of any Islanders skater), score a goal, and call Pete DeBoer “awesome” in his first game with the new Islanders coach But yeah … stay tuned 😂
