@LondonMoneyFS I agree, and overleveraged landlords outcompeted me. They have to be more aggressive across the board to pay for that leverage. I just think all the changes over the last few years have swung too far in the other direction. There will be a new market selling ...

I don’t recall this headline from the year 2000: “ 700 FTBs don’t buy a home every day as British landlords buy up “ Spin it all you want, play whatever violins you can lay your hands on, but BTL was a significance destroyer of a once semi functioning housing market

@proptechpioneer While we don't get the premium or the repair (I think we got screwed lol), we have placed a few of ours with them. We will sell them all once the contract ends and all the properties with normal tenants will be sold as they move out ( of their own free will )

For landlords who own a property that they cannot sell - a long-term lease to an asylum accommodation provider is looking like a good option. They are now paying a 35% PREMIUM above the council LHA and will take a long term lease where they will repair the property. I still think selling is a better option but if one cannot sell its worth considering.

@LondonMoneyFS I get that, but the logical conclusion is that there will be far fewer rentals on the market. How will all the young adults enjoy their 20s if their options are shrunk? I think there is a feeding frenzy on landlords, which will spread to others

@pennyarnie @technopopulist Same here, we have not raised rents for years. We have no mortgages on our portfolio, so we have flexibility. I like most of the new rules, you should not kick ppl out of their home for no reason. But i do think landlords are getting beaten with a stick that is unfair

@technopopulist When it was Covid one of our tenants could not afford some of the rent as couldn’t get out to work. (Scotland) he was a good tenant so we covered the cost, took a hit and didn’t ask for the money back. There are some good landlords. 👍 he’s been renting from us 8 yrs +

Slum landlordism in London is far worse than most people realise. It is one of the most underreported scandals in Britain. Rogue landlords are treated with kid gloves because authorities do not want to make tenants homeless. That is understandable. But landlords know this and exploit it. This may sound drastic, but the state should use emergency prohibition orders far more aggressively. In the worst cases, it should take control of the properties and hand them to councils. Turn them into social housing. Once landlords know they can lose the asset, behaviour will change.

Remains unsettling in relative and absolute terms: The 10-year yield on UK government bonds, which is nearing 5% (Bloomberg chart below), isn't just a reflection of global developments like Brent oil approaching $110, but also a manifestation of the UK’s "high beta" status and internal politics. #economy #markets #UK #bonds

If you paid even a penny in federal income tax last year, you paid more than: Tesla Southwest Disney Live Nation HP United PayPal CVS Health Palantir Citigroup PG&E 3M That's right. They paid $0 in federal income tax. It's time for big corporations to pay their fair share.

Iranian journalist Ali Golaki, close to the IRGC: Trump’s move could drive up prices across Gulf states, especially for goods moving through regional ports, but says the U.S. won’t sustain it beyond 2 months as global costs rise and rivals gain strength. He adds Trump is shifting the narrative from failing to open the Strait to claiming he closed it, and warns Iran could quickly shut Bab al-Mandab as part of an escalation toward a ceasefire.

There’s an illegal rave at Tregoss on the Goss Moor in Cornwall & it's so loud that it’s kept everyone awake all night, even people miles away. 🎵 It's still going on now & the village Facebook group is full of furious people.

@wheat_daddy @blaiklockBP @EnvAgency Yes, mine is the first one that does not go into a waterway. The ditch is closed, and it's not raw sewage; we get it emptied. The point is, what is this £1000 we don't pay any yearly charge, never have

@jonjoneloveit @blaiklockBP @EnvAgency Discharging raw sewage into a ditch is hugely damaging for wildlife and fish and was made illegal in 2020. You need a sewage treatment plant buried in the ground which turns sewage into water to go into your ditch.

The @EnvAgency has put up bills for people with septic tanks in the countryside by upto 17.5% Mine for discharging some water into a ditch has gone up by 15.5% and is now over £1000. For literally nothing. And with no choice but to pay it. Another government department ripping the general public off. A few years ago, the same bill was under £500.

Got our first non five star review today. Large dead Oak removal. Customer talked to the crew and told them she's had problems with neighbor saying he'd take wood and then it sits on her yard for weeks, so she wants it out of there. They interpret this as she just doesn't want the wood on her yard and offer to drive it over to the neighbors house. This saved us time, but not a ton as dump site is 5 mins away. Obviously they should have gotten myself or partners feedback before attempting to interpret what she wanted. We have 172 other 5 star reviews. Wondering how much effort I should put into trying to remediate the situation.
