@MonteCristo Rather sacrifice the entire system then! I was cheering for fnatic back when they had people I was cheering for and played excitingly. But like, LR is the epitome of likeable characters and exciting play. Most teams have neither now, why would I want to watch at all.

You are deluded if you think Riot is going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars buying back all the franchise slots to bring back relegation. LR’s viewership is spectacular but that isn’t enough to justify the cost of dissolving their partnership system.

@PatrinMaddison @MonsieurYordle Just considering the algorithm has a clear exit case, ”max losses” or something we’d be able to cut a decent chunk of the branches at least. Feels like this kind of algorithm should’ve been done for playoffs sports at some point.

@PatrinMaddison @MonsieurYordle 2^24 looks to be 16.777.216, I mean unreal shits out more verts for rendering if you breathe at it these days lol but fair enough, it’s all just for optimisation. To me it feels like there is some binary chop opt for this but I’m no algorithm hero.

@PatrinMaddison @MonsieurYordle But the point of a monte carlo is to approximate an exact algorithm with randomness, and the more iterations you have the closer you get to the result. If your win chances are 50/50 it’s just 50/50 with some small randomness bias based on iteration count.

@jonkellino @MonsieurYordle The reason you run this as Monte Carlo is because with each team having 4 games there are still millions of possible outcomes and it is a reasonable sampling device.

@SebAaltonen Agreed! I do like the effective promise that ’This version at least compiles with this SDL version’, but it does feel like there’s better ways to do that which doesn’t carry a ton of bloat not used by the average implementer.

I don't like bundling low level graphics APIs with wrapper and utility libraries. GLUT, SDL and similar should be their own products. Graphics APIs should be minimal. Let's not bloat them further by bundling them with more libraries.

@TheGingerBill I mean, only sane reason I’d use either Swift or Obj C would be their out of the box functionality with the various apple platforms & Xcode deployment funtimes. (Disregarding Stockholm Syndrome) And even then it’s just a way to call platform API and pipe the data to core C++.
