@m_janelee This "experience" of the academic world is something like this: Location: A dreamlike place. Reality: The echoes of air conditioning and the endless loop of 'Next Slide, Please'. Dinner: The most exciting moment is when free snacks are finally available.

Some girls at work told me they loved the new Madonna song and it was into the groove. Dont worry, they were shamed and educated.

@1Nicdar She was working at a bridal shop in Flusing, Queens ‘til her boyfriend kicked her out in one of those crushing scenes. What was she to do? Where was she to go? She was out on her fanny. So over the bridge from Flushing to the Sheffield’s door, she was there to sleep makeup but …

@uhbucky Even Shakespeare - in Richard III, Richard is at the Tower and sends the Duke of Ely to fetch strawberries from Holborn - and the Duke returns with the strawberries within minutes. No. No he did not. No way. No how.

one of the funniest things to me is when a person writes specific details about boston in a fic and they definitely aren’t from boston cause they’ll be like ilya crashed his car into a tree speeding on newbury street and I’m like no he didn’t

This is exactly the kind of lazy take that has made the press increasingly irrelevant. This is who Hillary Clinton has always been. Acting shocked now is not insight. It is willful ignorance.

I need to make this VERY clear. This hatred for Donald Trump was never about Republican vs Democrat. Donald Trump is a horrible human. Horrible humans should not be put in charge of hundreds of millions of good humans. It's not complicated.

Corporations don't need everyone to buy stuff, they just need enough people. They won't replace all workers, they will replace 50% of workers. The rest get richer, and become the customer base. Companies serve a smaller, wealthier market. The number of "luxury" companies increases, as does the number of dollar stores. So what happens to the people who no longer matter to the economy? That's the real question.

Nobody has yet been able to answer the question: If AI is going to cause mass unemployment and lack of income, then who is going to buy all of the stuff that is produced in the consumer economy? If nobody is there to buy anything, how will any corporations make money?
