1 Peter 2:24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

it seems like every single high profile junior or amateur event with cameras we get a video of this genre, (i've captured/shared them myself before, but this one from "mensgrill69") and then the wolves just quote tweet into the carcass with slightly diff ways saying the same thing: it's bad. then there's a backlash to the backlash telling you you should feel bad for picking on a junior or amateur. And then there's a re-cross examination of those people shaming them for not caring about the future of the game and what's acceptable/decorum. And then we just do it all over again at the next one and nothing changes, except social media is fed for a few days.

“This is part of her routine” I would have already been on the green waiting before she pulled the trigger.

Jeremiah is exactly correct, the Ark of the covenant isn't sitting in a monastery somewhere being guarded by monks. The Jewish Talmud says it was never returned after the Babylonian exile in late 6th century BC; Maimonides says that it could be buried in tunnels Solomon made under the temple mount; 2nd Macc. 2 says Jeremiah hid it at Mt. Nebo; Samaritan tradition says it was buried in Mt. Garizim. And let's be honest, even if it was in an Orthodox Tewahedo church in Ethiopia (which I'm pretty confident it isn't), it wouldn't matter. The Ark was meant to point to and is fully fulfilled in Jesus. If it still physically exists it holds no power or authority than any other ancient box.

A deep dive into the Ark of the Covenant—what it was, where it may have been, and why its significance goes far beyond the mystery of its location—this conversation unpacks the historical and archaeological context surrounding Shiloh, challenges popular claims about the Ark being hidden in Ethiopia, and breaks down why many widely circulated biblical “discoveries” fall into speculation rather than evidence, before shifting into an evidence-based case for the resurrection of Jesus through prophecy, historical accounts, and archaeological support, while also exploring spiritual warfare, including the reality of demons, the nature of evil, and how these ideas are often distorted by modern media. @_jeremiahj

Baptists believe that the visible church should only be made up of people who have actually received saving grace. That’s it. All the rest of our beliefs are downstream of this one.

Last Sunday I summarized @aaron_renn on the Positive/Neautral/Negative worlds in my sermon on taking up your cross. Today the Chicago Bulls proved his point. Christian, being rejected for Christ’s sake is honorable. Follow Christ regardless of how much the world hates you.

Tonight, the Elders of Lake Wylie Baptist met for the first time. We prayed. We discussed how to organize the work. And I led the meeting with this devotional on the Law & Gospel. Maybe it will be an encouragement to you: The Law & Gospel in the Work of Elders Text: 2 Corinthians 3:5-9 - Ministry of the Letter (Old Covenant / Law) - Carved on stone - Kills and condemns - Exposes sin and our inability - Came with real glory (Moses’ shining face) Ministry of the Spirit (New Covenant / Gospel) - Written on hearts by the Spirit - Gives life and righteousness - Declares what Christ has done for us - Has far greater glory A General Distinction From Luther’s Galatians commentary: “Here I must take counsel of the gospel. I must hearken to the gospel, which teacheth me, not what I ought to do, (for that is the proper office of the law,) but what Jesus Christ the Son of God hath done for me : to wit, that He suffered and died to deliver me from sin and death. The gospel willeth me to receive this, and to believe it. And this is the truth of the gospel. It is also the principal article of all Christian doctrine, wherein the knowledge of all godliness consisteth. Most necessary it is, therefore, that we should know this article well, teach it unto others, and beat it into their heads continually.” Law: Tells us what we ought to do (and shows we cannot) Gospel: Tells us what Jesus Christ has done for us (suffered, died, delivered us from sin and death) Gospel calls us to receive and believe — this is the principal article of Christian doctrine Why This Matters for Elders – 5 Key Applications in Shepherding the Sheep 1. Elder Visits/Check-Ins/Soul Care - Lead with the Gospel - Brothers, we are not inquisitors. Our first ministry isn’t fruit inspection. - Yet the law is good. It’s a rule of living. 2. Preaching, Teaching & Small Groups - Preach grace. - You must first preach the law (which kills) - Then preach the gospel (which makes alive). - Offer the whole Christ freely to all. - Resist moralism, emphasize evangelical obedience. 3. Church Discipline & Restoration - Goal is never mere compliance — goal is Gospel restoration. - Lead the wandering sheep back to the cross and Christ’s righteousness. - Nevertheless, God warrants our use of the law as a rule of living, and therefore a standard for membership. 4. Our Own Hearts as Elders - When we feel insufficient: “Our sufficiency is from God” (v. 5) - Preach the Gospel to ourselves daily. - Fight self-reliance, comparison, and burnout by resting in Christ’s work. 5. Church Culture We Cultivate - Make gratitude for the Gospel the engine of obedience. - Create an atmosphere where legalism dies and true holiness flourishes.
