@DavidAstinWalsh @Sebastian_Hols This response - right here - with the subtle redirect
Is the dead giveaway you are an academic
English

@Sebastian_Hols Wake me when there's a Marxist economist at the University of Chicago.
English

True. Economics has got to be the most politically repressive discipline on most campuses by a considerable degree.
Lincoln Michel@TheLincoln
Surely more likely than an economics professor who was openly far left
English

@SenSanders You have the temerity to use the term 'moral obscenity' while you are literally advocating wealth confiscation
You sir are a tyrant
English

@lizkimtweets This is so typical
Make vague sweeping statements about society and your solutions
Someone asks for clarification
Moan about definitions

@HorrorGorl 'I had more free time when my parents supported me and I didn't have to work'
'Capitalism means I need to find a job and pay rent, this sucks'
English

@HorrorGorl The belief that subsistence farmers worked less than people today he is one of the most SMH things I see on this platform

@HistoryBoomer It's truly the largest group of organized people, ever
That think they shouldn't have to have a job with a boss or pay rent, and for that the world is unjust
English

@ATLCWorker Every now and again, I think I find the most dishonest tweet I've ever seen on X
Then, usually the very next day, I see one like this
English

@ScottCDunn @rbelcher3966 @ItsLulu_7 Or, as stated earlier
A federal government with only the enumerated constitutional powers granted it has little power to meddle where it shouldn't, or play favorites
Who typically serves your better? Your grocery store, or your elected representative?
English

@ScottCDunn @rbelcher3966 @ItsLulu_7 It's exactly the rationale behind it
Smoking is way down since taxes on it increased
Like I said...
English

@jonmunce @rbelcher3966 @ItsLulu_7 The power to tax is the power to destroy. So why do we tax cigarettes again?
English

@ScottCDunn @rbelcher3966 @ItsLulu_7 You're making my point - the power to tax is the power to destroy
How is this not just wanting to be left alone? 'Don't tax me' isn't rent seeking, is it?
English

I was alive then. I missed much of the debate then. But if you're talking about the Internet Tax Freedom Act, I remember that one well, and that was a dead giveaway. Amazon capitalized on that.
Maybe you're thinking of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 with section 230. That section protected millions of small businesses on the Internet from litigation that would have snuffed them out. That section still works today, and it is a gem. And it's not a giveaway.
