Start with the idea that every person you meet has struggled and been damaged in some way This damage causes them to not always be truthful, keep promises, or act as they know they should Love them anyway But don't let them or anyone rule over you

Sergey Brin is worth $276 billion. He could save healthcare for 3 million people. Instead, he’s spending $82 million against California’s 5% billionaire wealth tax. He’d rather see low-income Americans die & suffer than pay his fair share of taxes. That is a moral obscenity.

"If your mom and pop shop can't compete with the wealthiest municipal government stealing 30% of your own revenue + tax $$ from 8.5 million people to undercut your prices, you shouldn't be in business" Socialists are truly the dumbest people on earth.

A sign that the Democratic Socialists of America don’t actually want something like Scandinavian social democracy: their slogan is “tax billionaires,” not “tax the middle class.”

“Maybe they shouldn’t have been in that business in the first place.” That’s how the co-chair of New York’s Socialist Party responded to concerns that a state-run grocery store could force a locally owned business to close. So much for the “warmth of collectivism.”

The new DSA platform is something. The government will take over food production and sales, ditto energy, medicine, airlines, and housing. Universal rent control, the end of capitalism, and a classless society (stated elsewhere in the platform). This doesn't sound like Sweden!

@ScottCDunn @rbelcher3966 @ItsLulu_7 Or, as stated earlier A federal government with only the enumerated constitutional powers granted it has little power to meddle where it shouldn't, or play favorites Who typically serves your better? Your grocery store, or your elected representative?

@ScottCDunn @rbelcher3966 @ItsLulu_7 You're making my point - the power to tax is the power to destroy How is this not just wanting to be left alone? 'Don't tax me' isn't rent seeking, is it?

I was alive then. I missed much of the debate then. But if you're talking about the Internet Tax Freedom Act, I remember that one well, and that was a dead giveaway. Amazon capitalized on that. Maybe you're thinking of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 with section 230. That section protected millions of small businesses on the Internet from litigation that would have snuffed them out. That section still works today, and it is a gem. And it's not a giveaway.
