Remember when Rachel Reeves told the BBC that energy bills need no immediate action because “families and pensioners” barely use gas in the summer months from July to September?
Tell that to the millions who need hot water, cooking, and heating year-round, especially the elderly, disabled and ill.
Today the energy price cap has risen sharply, with typical bills jumping nearly 13% and adding over £200 a year amid global price spikes.
Net zero is killing this country. Scrapping the green levies would make a real difference and could be done immediately. Even Tony Blair has called for net zero to be scrapped in favour of cheap energy.
They could also start more drilling and open new fields right now.
They claim they want to help and will act, but this useless, clueless, delusional government refuses to do anything that would actually deliver material relief.
Don’t expect anything anytime soon.

@CarolineLucas @simon_gunyah Caroline. How do you explain the previous record set in the 1920s- climate change ? And do you not remember the wonderfully hot summer of 1976

Energy bills are rising again. Labour will blame Iran, but you’re paying more because of Ed Miliband’s net zero taxes and refusal to drill our own oil and gas.
Our Cheap Power Plan would cut bills by 20% by scrapping the green taxes, scrapping VAT and drilling in the North Sea.
