The data doesn’t exist so we’re talking to each other into thin air but I’ve never seen an amateur footballer or amateur rugby player see the same level of benefit. FairPlay to the GAA lads.

The Mayo story is utterly phenomenal it’s what sport is all about and I was watching Sunday. However, this narrative that the top inter county GAA players are “amateur” though explicitly true is still facetious. I’d argue they’re some of the top “paid” athletes on the island.

@SamDempsey1998 A strong percentage of the inter county players will. If we’re counting those who aren’t inter county well that’s the same for amateur rugby and football players too.

Given all elements of story came together (in social media era), this eclipses any other All-Ire in terms of impact imo. Is it an exaggeration to say there hasn't been such widespread interest/goodwill & delirious emotional scenes around any sporting event in Ire since Italia 90?

Joe Brolly has spent years attacking Mayo players and some of the stuff he has said was way, way over the line. He would have had an article pre written full of jibes which he didn't get a chance to publish because of the result. Nobody wants to hear his take on this game.

I have read one article that has given Mayo a chance and that was by Stephen Rochford. Every other one has said Kerry comfortably some even going as far as to say they fear a hammering could be on the cards. Hopefully we can get a few kickouts away and have a nice day out.

I think some Mayo people are underestimating Kerry, they are All Ireland champions for a reason. You can be sure they will have a plan for Kobe McDonald , Darragh Beirne, Ryan O'Donoghue & Tommy Conroy.
