@ValentiJim @lefty1530 Jim, this is great! Glad to see Joe is staying in the game! I'd love to chat with him. Diamond Dreams is right next to Ursinus, maybe we can get him some extra work if he's interested.

@LanceBroz I watched your video on baseball savant's bat tracking. I'm wondering how you were able to find a player's avg bat speed on fastballs vs sliders. I'm guessing it's in the search function but I'm having trouble finding it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

@jonrwalton If he hits it, it's at contact, yes. If he misses, it's the speed at the point where contact would have been (aka where the ball and the bat got closest)

@_dadler is there a way to see the bat metrics from each pitch of each game for a certain player?

@_dadler If a player swings and misses is the bat speed just the max bat speed of the swing? And if they hit it it's bat speed at contact...correct?

Reaction: An element of coordination ability, it is one of the most sought after abilities in all sports. It is defined as: The ability to respond with movement to a particular stimulus such as sight, sound or touch. (Drabik) According to the Athletic Skills Model: the ability to react can be trained with the emergence of expected and unexpected signal in practice tasks. One of the best ways to develop speed of reaction is through exposing young athletes to a variety of different games. Not just games of their favorite sport but many different sports and made up games. Best developed for boys and girls between the ages of 8-10 years. When it comes to working with young athletes, developing speed of reaction should be on a foundational piece of any youth athletic development program. #LTAD Any parent, coach, or trainer looking for programs on youth athletic development programs D.M. for details.
