@stelloprint @BethforGlendale @loganb No one is “defending” anything. Simply stating that the prerequisite fundamentals are taught before more specialized training. You cannot learn anything you listed above without them. Most of our population is educated in public schools, whether you think that’s optimal or not.

@chirs23 @BethforGlendale @loganb Nope they graduate knowing nothing about construction, plumbing, car repair, cooking, nutrition or hell even finances but more than ready to take on student debt & 30-50 yr mortgages. I cannot fathom defending such a scam. Not for a minute.

Nominally, they’re consuming $20k/yr in public services despite only paying $2500/yr in property taxes. Practically after decades of profligate spending into a disastrous policy posture, they’re probably getting $2500/yr in actual services and don’t really care because someone else is paying the other $17.5k. 🙃
big_pedestrian@big_pedestrian

If you’re a Californian, you just spent at least three days listening to an elderly relative complain about paying $2500 a year in property taxes on a 4BR/3BA house in a good neighborhood while you pay that for half a 2BR apartment. 😭 taxfairnessproject.org/map

@BethforGlendale @loganb Elderly homeowners are the biggest beneficiaries of public schools as almost every service and good they continue to receive was made possible by it. Their doctors and hvac did not appear out of nowhere!

@loganb Then renters should be entitled to an itemized breakdown of their rent, as I said. Additionally, you didn't address the fact that elderly homeowners are paying for public schools that YOUR children are going to or will go to.

@wanyeburkett Someone could walk into anyones workplace and find 10 things that beggar belief based on their initial misunderstanding of the work. They could find 20 if they willingly want to. “You spent hundred of thousands of dollars wildly shopping on Amazon!” While you paid for AWS..etc.

@leamaric To me it’s like saying: “oh you talk with your wife on the PHONE!? You are demanding that she verbally update you 24/7?!?” No…it’s a useful tool that allows us to plan and live together more easily.

@leamaric To the “tracking” skeptics. When you share locations, it does not mean you are “tracking” them anymore than when you ask “how much longer till u arrive home?” We share locations because it’s a lot safer, especially when they are driving and you need to know their ETA.

@Dannii__TB @leamaric I’m convinced that a lot of the pushback to this is due to people not being married and not understanding the usefulness of the feature to daily life for couples, especially with kids.

@leamaric My wife and I check each other’s location frequently. It helps me ensure dinner is ready when she gets home from work, and she always waits out the front for me to walk me in when I get home from work at night. We aren’t checking up on each other, we are checking in.

Anyone else tired by how many products are subscription rather than a one off purchase now? Can I just buy something once and then have it and be done? I don’t need an account with you

@jersey8934 @Pirate_EOD @nfthiero @wanyeburkett Will you pay your fair share when my kids fix your shit? You think Timmy just popped out as a doctor or HVAC repairman? Lucy exited the womb and helped design the computer chip in your phone? Parents pay with almost all their money and time to make the people who you depend on.

@realRyanEagle @SFR_Investor Exactly, and doesn’t Ramsey recommend having a 6 month liquid emergency fund? Most anyone paying off their mortgage early probably has a good amount liquid!

@SFR_Investor take a step back: if people have the money to pay off the mortgage and sleep well at night they probably have the liquidity to not give a shit. that’s the whole point of my message: some people out here talking ‘50 BPS’ when others thinking 0.5%.

@kevinleeme @JoeCassandra You will “put your kids first” and that’s great and will not result in a divorce. Only focusing on kids will cause problems though.

Serious question for parents: Do you believe you love your kids more than your partner? I've wanted kids since I was a teen and know I'll absolutely love and adore my kids. But I don't think I could ever love them more than I love my wife and she will always come first.

@binney_z @EHPlimsoll1 @mattyglesias It should not be described as letting bad-faith right wing activists determine it but instead “should we better understand our biases and how we present ourselves to an increasingly skeptical public”. It’s not just right wingers who are doubting the value of these disciplines.

@wanyeburkett I’d argue it’s best for the bottom 80th! I know lots of smart/wealthy people who don’t have more than a month of living expenses saved and tons of unnecessary debt.

@JeremyFrisch Jeremy all these posts are amazing. As a dad, I want to do these with my kids. Do you have a list and description of these skill based games? Recommend a book or business that does this?

Reaction: An element of coordination ability, it is one of the most sought after abilities in all sports. It is defined as: The ability to respond with movement to a particular stimulus such as sight, sound or touch. (Drabik) According to the Athletic Skills Model: the ability to react can be trained with the emergence of expected and unexpected signal in practice tasks. One of the best ways to develop speed of reaction is through exposing young athletes to a variety of different games. Not just games of their favorite sport but many different sports and made up games. Best developed for boys and girls between the ages of 8-10 years. When it comes to working with young athletes, developing speed of reaction should be on a foundational piece of any youth athletic development program. #LTAD Any parent, coach, or trainer looking for programs on youth athletic development programs D.M. for details.

@LivFaustDieJung @magdajtaylor DINKS deserve love and joy, but I find these types of videos slightly annoying as if every parent on earth does not understand the ease of living without kids. We know! It’s like making a video arguing that ice cream tastes good. Everyone already understands.

@magdajtaylor They're embracing the idea that their lives don't need to be centered on a child. I'm a very happy parent who loves my children, but I don't think this is a bad thing at all. Good for them, sounds like they're having fun and enjoying life.

@ramit Renting is paying a higher price for stability and ease. That makes sense in certain situations but is on average a bad long term bet on something you will use everyday. Name one other product where renting is the cheaper for something you will use everyday for your entire life.

@dollarbillbluez Add onto that that neither “chai” nor “naan” are English nouns, there is potential for confusion when used by an American without specific context. “I need naan right now” will make me question whether you said “naan” or I misheard you. There is no question with “naan bread”.

@dollarbillbluez I think people forget than in American English both “bread” and “tea” are usually preceded by a descriptor, hence why saying “chai” or “naan” alone sounds weird. Almost no one requests just “tea” or “bread”. Ask someone for “bread” and their response will be “what kind?”

Random thing I always gripe about is how “chai tea” and “naan bread” are perfectly reasonable and non-redundant phrases and anyone who corrects you is just doing it as a cheap shot to feel smart
