This Lone Ranger Atomic Bomb ring was distributed by Kix cereal in the late 40's, for 15 cents and a mail-in box top. It was actually a spinthariscope containing radioactive Polonium-210 (one of the most toxic substances out there). A child would take the toy into a pitch-black room, remove the tail cap from the 'bomb', and look through a tiny lens to see flashes of light from the Polonium-210 atoms decaying into Lead-206.

How about a FPGA community? This could be interesting to share knowledge / learning and help each other. I just created one, link below! twitter.com/i/communities/…

@mathelirium Would it be possible to receive a copy of this, gently slowed to the pace of an hour’s passing, so it could loop endlessly as a projection washing across my office space?

Neutron Star Merger Two ultra-dense stars spiral together, radiating gravitational waves whose plus and cross polarizations make the fabric shiver and chirp faster and louder. Tidal forces strip neutron-rich matter into an equatorial sheet; that debris forges heavy elements via the r-process and powers a kilonova glow. #Astrophysics #Physics #Mathematics #SciArt

“I use soap, of course I do!” Interesting. Most folks don’t use soap. The Legal Definition of Soap: What It Means and Why It's Better for You Did you know that "soap" isn't just a casual term—it's legally defined by the FDA? True soap must primarily consist of alkali salts of fatty acids (like from natural oils), be intended solely for cleansing, and contain no other active ingredients. If a product makes claims like "moisturizes" or "kills bacteria," it might be classified as a cosmetic or drug instead, falling under stricter regulations. Why is sticking to real soap better for you? It's simpler and often gentler on the skin, avoiding synthetic detergents, fragrances, or preservatives that can irritate or dry out your epidermis. Even more concerning is that your body absorbs chemicals, nearly as well as if you were to eat the substance that is on your skin. Now I admit that I’ve eaten soap a few times when I was a kid, but I only had two ingredients, fat and lye. Plus, traditional soaps are biodegradable and eco-friendlier, reducing your exposure to unnecessary chemicals. Next time you're shopping, check the label—your skin and your health will thank you.
