How about a FPGA community? This could be interesting to share knowledge / learning and help each other. I just created one, link below! twitter.com/i/communities/…

@ATaylorFPGA @the_engi_nerd Most hiring is done by non-engineers or non-practitioners. They care more about agreeableness and likability. The very best engineers care about reality not likability and this doesn't go over well in an interview with the socially driven.

I think this falls within normal human performance variability. I know of nothing that would make Flight Test Control Engineers special in this regard. Same was true of the engineers. Some were very good, others were absolutely useless.

@LordBadshot Never liked tax, it is just theft and wasted, there is no social contract. Just a out of control government spending like a drunk sailor in port. You should try to minimise your corporation tax as much as possible and do not forget any RnD tax credits.

I have just paid my Corporation Tax and I have to ask myself, why bother. I would far rather just get a pile of cash and burn it. I don't want to fund other people anymore. Was always happy to pay my way for the good of society but no more. I can't be the only one.

@GarethJone33754 @DavidDavisMP It is a rigged game, and not one you can win the state will crush you. The state is utterly evil so to is anyone who works for it or enforces its "laws"

@ATaylorFPGA @DavidDavisMP In a seized email between two hmrc agents was the legend “let’s get these fat bankers”, clearly a malicious prosecution for a scheme that other participants, including famous footballers and managers, had been allowed to repay with interest. They weren’t allowed to use the email!!

The lax treatment of Angela Rayner by HMRC has brought into focus how arbitrary the tax authority can be in its treatment of ordinary citizens. Too often, HMRC has pursued individuals and small businesses for vast sums of money in error. HMRC are masters of using process as punishment, making themselves increasingly difficult to contact while torturing people with demand letters and bankruptcy notices. Victims of these errors are often forced to spend huge amounts of time and money to prove HMRC wrong. This sometimes runs to hundreds of thousands of pounds in legal fees, many times the actual amount in dispute. They also find their names and details published in a list of deliberate tax defaulters, in effect a "name and shame" list. I have to question whether this meets citizens' privacy rights, since these do not appear to be court rulings but HMRC opinions. HMRC's excesses must be brought under control. It is time ministers took a grip of this. telegraph.co.uk/money/tax/news…

@DavidDavisMP A solution might be to reinstate HMRC’s liability for costs. I have seen first hand a man’s life ruined because he had to defend himself twice, after they demanded a retrial, and the resulting costs bankrupted him. He was exonerated. They accuse and prosecute with impunity.

@DavidDavisMP @DianeStokie Mandatory Making Tax Digital Income Tax Returns for sole traders will demand that they submit Quarterly unassessable Income and Expenditure - just for the purpose of HMRC putting them in a file. Anyone care about the pointlessness of this and the cost to the smallest businesses?

Because for 30+ years the US optimized for cheap labor overseas while China optimized for industrial dominance. We offshored factories because of shitty policy while China built ports, tooling, supplier networks, machining capacity, workforce training, and manufacturing infrastructure at a scale the world has never seen. Now people act shocked when they can manufacture things cheaper and faster. You don’t rebuild that in 4 years. You rebuild it over decades. If America actually wants manufacturing back, consumers are gonna have to accept the painful reality that US-made products may cost more for a long time while the industrial base gets rebuilt and refined. China didn’t “cheat” their way into dominance. They out invested us in manufacturing while we financialized everything.

Getting a couple simple parts machined. Sendcutsend is cheapest at $568, JLCCNC is $204 after 100% tariffs. Both include shipping. I love America but why would you ever order from SCS at this price? Does it make more sense at higher volume?

Believe me - I would have if I could have!
Marcus Agrippa@AgrippaSPQR

How on earth was @trussliz supposed to face down most of the Tory parliamentary Party and the 1922 Committee? Don't forget that Truss was the members choice not the Tory Party choice, their man was Sunak. Truss held no cards to face them down with, as became clear when they quickly moved Sunak into place without reference to the members. It was at this point I cancelled my Tory Party membership and sailed away alongside many others, finally finding a port with Reform.
