We're using a mix of deterministic sync for scene changes (destruction, spawning, deletion, etc), state synchronization with eventual consistency (physics, visual) and differential state streaming (screens, menu).

Adding multiplayer to this game has been far more complicated than making the entire engine for single player. This is a project that spans 3+ years and dozens of developers and now it's finally time to let it out in the wild!

@plusJames_ @Knightly_Hist I played BDO during its beta, I haven't touched it since, I enjoyed it, just wasnt up for an MMO at the time and forgot about it. Could you explain why you think this? I remember the BDO beta being a breath of fresh air in the genre.

@erogetism I think externalising is good. Using a public forum like twitter as an outlet for it is interesting because it can invite a lot of unnecessary and unkind criticism. Despite that there's obviously value in the good comments and a potential back and forth, so I respect it immensely

And if you find it strange or cringe I talk about such graphic Trauma like this in a public space that’s fine I guess. I don’t think everyone can understand it or fathom it which is good for them. But I think other people can identify with it and it helps myself to talk to myself

@erogetism We cringe at our past selves a lot. That's just a tell for how much we've grown since then. It's unavoidable.
Outside of that, cringe isn't real, be you, be unwaveringly yourself, leave no compromise.
