Absolute bombshell. Pope Leo directly rebukes Pete Hegseth for trying to frame the Iran war as a Christian holy crusade. The Pope declares God will not listen to their prayers because their hands are full of blood. A devastating moral condemnation of the Pentagon.

Mark Fischer extensively discussed this phenomenon in his works, how there was a "slow cancelation of the future". He theorized that because capitalism places a limit on what we can imagine as an alternative to it— where a future without it is rendered both unimaginable and impossible— culture as a result loops the past endessly, instead of creating something new. It quite literally cannot. It's forced to recycle the same cultural products. Only what capitalism produces is natural, real and permanent; nothing outside of it. So it has to keep going back. The future is bound to the socio-political and economic limits of its current reality— what it produces cannot be so radically different. We cannot imagine a world distinct from, or beyond it, so instead we extend the present. We keep going back to what we knew. That is why nostalgia is probably the most powerful marketing tool; it presses into something that is no longer there, but we hold onto; that we yearn for again— it exploits that bond we have to that memory/ feeling to sell us the idea that you can actually go back. Nostalgia after all in greek literally means the pain an old wound. Fisher says modern culture shows us how actual innovation isn't really possible, instead capitalist culture is only capable of imitating what came before— so it recycles, remixes, reboots— aesthetics, music, art, fasion etc. A past that we long for, yet we can not go back to. Waiting on a future that is promised, yet never arrives either (look up his writings on Hauntology).
Ewan Morrison@MrEwanMorrison

The future has been cancelled. In your life you will live through an endless reboot of the highlights from 1980- 2010. There is no longer any need for new ideas or new writers or creators. Thanks to risk-averse algorithmic capitalism - we're entering a closed loop of the past.

Estava errado. A emissora pediu desculpas. ⚡George Galloway shuts down Piers Morgan: Galloway: When you talk about the “international community,” do you mean Washington, London, Tel Aviv, and Brussels? That’s not the whole world. Morgan: Then who is the world, in your view? Do you support Iran? Galloway: Listen carefully… China stands with Iran, Russia stands with Iran, Brazil stands with Iran, South Africa stands with Iran, Indonesia stands with Iran, Pakistan stands with Iran — and India deals with Iran. When did you, Piers Morgan, gain the right to decide that seven-eighths of the world’s population don’t matter just because you dislike their systems? These are the majority of the planet’s people, and they reject your so-called rules-based order — one that allows you to kill Palestinians while lecturing the world about human rights. Morgan: I’m not saying they don’t matter. I’m saying I’d rather live in a liberal democracy that guarantees freedom of speech than under a brutal dictatorship. Galloway (interrupting): You’re free to choose where you live — but you’re not free to destroy the rest of the world because they don’t live the way you do. That’s your “rules-based international order” — it’s the law of the jungle.

A Harvard neuroscience professor who teaches at Harvard Summer School said something that completely changed how I think about memory. She wasn't talking to journalists. She was answering a student question about why smart people still forget everything they study. Her name is Dr. Tracey Tokuhama-Espinosa, and she has spent decades researching how the brain actually encodes and retrieves information. Here's what she said: "The ultimate litmus test of learning is using the information in a new context, not just remembering it for a test." That one sentence exposes why most people's study habits are completely broken. Here's the actual system she teaches Harvard students to retain what they learn. The first thing she kills immediately is the myth that you have one learning style. The idea that you're a "visual learner" or an "auditory learner" is not supported by modern neuroscience. Your brain wants to learn through as many senses as possible at once, because each sense creates a separate neural pathway to the same knowledge. More pathways means faster and stronger recall. The second technique is spaced repetition, but she explains the mechanism in a way most people never hear. Every time you retrieve a memory, you physically thicken the myelin sheath around that neural connection, which makes the electrical signal travel faster. You aren't just reviewing information you are literally rewiring your brain to access it more quickly. The third technique floored me. She tells students to teach what they just learned to someone else within 24 hours, because teaching forces you to find the gaps in your own understanding before the exam does it for you. The fourth is what she calls "feed-forward" instead of feedback. When you get something wrong, don't treat it as a failure. Ask only one question: what would I do differently next time? That reframe keeps the brain in a learning state instead of a defensive one. But the most underrated insight she shared was this: the single biggest factor in long-term retention is whether you can make the material personally meaningful to your own life. Your brain prioritizes storing things that feel relevant and discards things that feel abstract. The students who remember everything aren't studying harder. They're studying in a way that the brain was actually designed to absorb.

É a 46ª maior conta do Brasil.
Bruno Barreto@Barreto269

This used to be the work of junior journalists. Aggregating other news stories, scanning press releases for newsworthy nuggets, cross checking with sources, checking facts, writing it all up… that was my job as a junior reporter for many many years. Doing that work taught me how to write and think. Now that AI does it, who will even have the chance to develop real journalism skills anymore? wsj.com/business/media…

AI at Meta@AIatMeta

Today we're introducing TRIBE v2 (Trimodal Brain Encoder), a foundation model trained to predict how the human brain responds to almost any sight or sound. Building on our Algonauts 2025 award-winning architecture, TRIBE v2 draws on 500+ hours of fMRI recordings from 700+ people to create a digital twin of neural activity and enable zero-shot predictions for new subjects, languages, and tasks. The UK abstained on a UN resolution to recognise the transatlantic slave trade as the “gravest crime against humanity” despite overwhelming support from non-European countries. At the UN General Assembly vote on 25 March, 123 countries voted in favour of the resolution, whilst just three – the US, Israel and Argentina – voted against. The UK and several EU member states were amongst 52 that abstained. The resolution called for reparations to address historical injustices, which saw 12.5 million Africans abducted and sold as slaves between the 15th and 19th centuries. The Netherlands is the only European country to have ever formally apologised for its role in the slave trade. In an official statement, the UK said it recognised “the abhorrent nature of slavery and the transatlantic slave trade, which inflicted untold harm and misery on millions of people over many decades”. However, the government took issue with the legal wording of the resolution and argued that “we must not create a hierarchy of historical atrocities”. A Foreign Office spokesperson told the Telegraph: “We are committed to deepening respectful, long-term partnerships with African countries, rooted in mutual respect, that deliver real change for people’s lives. “The UK’s position on reparations is clear – we will not pay them.” According to the National Archives, Britain was the most dominant slave-trading nation between 1640 and 1807 and transported an estimated 3.1m Africans to the British colonies in the Americas and Caribbean.

$3 trillion moved in 56 minutes on two statements. Trump said “productive conversations.” The S&P added $2 trillion. Iran said “no contact.” The S&P erased $1 trillion. During those 56 minutes, the Strait of Hormuz did not open. Not one tanker moved. Not one barrel of crude loaded. Not one tonne of fertiliser shipped. Not one litre of helium reached TSMC. The 40 energy assets the IEA confirmed destroyed this morning are still destroyed. Primorsk is still burning on the Baltic. The planting window in South Asia still narrowed by another six hours. $3 trillion repriced on words. Zero molecules repriced on reality. This is the war now. Two men post on social media. Algorithms move trillions. The strait stays closed. The molecules do not read Truth Social. The molecules do not read Iranian state media. The molecules wait. open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…
The Kobeissi Letter@KobeissiLetter

This is absolutely insane: At 7:04 AM ET today, President Trump said “the US and Iran have had productive discussions" to end the Iran War. By 7:10 AM ET, the S&P 500 surged +240 points adding +$2 TRILLION in market cap. 27 minutes later, Iran completely denied all of President Trump's claims and said there has been "no contact" with the US. By 8:00 AM ET. the S&P 500 had fallen -120 points erasing -$1 trillion in market cap. That's a $3 TRILLION swing market cap in 56 minutes, just in the S&P 500. What is happening here?
