On the positive side, it shows there are still lots of very good, compassionate people in the Labour party, despite a right-wing faction that is a growing proportion of our shrinking party. I hope decency will continue to win out.

@thelauratheory_ I did the same, but after maybe 150 pages. There were clever bits but also baffling bits and I think a writer has to respect their reader just a little bit. Hugely rate your call to jump ship 🫡

Folks, I have abandoned this book. My life can be spent in more pleasurable ways, including spooning out my eyes. As a final note, I'd be intrigued to know what Anthony Burgess was reading when he said it was the greatest novel of the century. I guess he didn't read much.
