Today's allocations show the stark reality of the decision to slash the aid budget. We warned a year ago that it would lead to more poverty, less security, and diminish our standing in the world. This is the harsh reality. Read our chair’s statement @staff_heather

Fragile and conflict affected states will receive up to 71% of aid funding, but will still face 25% cut overall and non-fcas facing 60% cut. Remember Aid can help prevent conflict, that should be our focus.
Sarah Champion@SarahChampionMP

£11m more for BBC World Service (8%). Annual funding over next 3 years will be £148 m compared to £137m currently. Allocation is flat over 3 years meaning inflation will erode the instead in later years of the spending plan

Today we get more details on where FCDO funding cuts will land. I fear for the international impact, not least to our reputation. And remember in addition to 40% cuts, there are 25% staff cuts @CommonsIDC @icai_uk @bondngo @CGDev @Independent

I’ve written for @LabourList today as Vice-Chair of @LabourCID on the lessons from Gorton and Denton and why Labour action on extreme poverty should be part of a strategy to win back progressive voters. labourlist.org/2026/03/labour…

I am proud that the UK's international development work supports women and girls across the world to thrive. On #IWD2026, I want to celebrate the women I met in DRC this week, as well as our commitment to stand with women and girls everywhere, every day.

LCID exec member @MariaFFinnerty shares new analysis in the @Independent, looking at the role of debt relief in countering the tragic impacts of the aid cuts, announced a year ago today. independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…
Maria Finnerty@MariaFFinnerty

Exclusive on new analysis I did for @CAFOD in @Independent, finding that debt relief could help counteract the devastating impacts of @FCDOGovUK @10DowningStreet ODA cuts, announced one year ago today. Hundreds of millions of lives & livelihoods are on the line.

Drone strikes targeting humanitarian workers delivering food to starving people – this is an abomination. Humanity is failing the people of Sudan.   Aid workers and civilians must never be targeted. All parties must respect international law and agree to a humanitarian truce.
