@Scott_Spratt@CoachJSGordon@ChristianArcand@WEEI Yah - I’m not trying to kill him over those losses. I just don’t really think he’s done anything impressive as a HC other than that one AFC run, and regular season wins in a relatively poor division.
Agreed. I don’t like that analysis independent of neutral game script numbers.
@josh_ff@CoachJSGordon@ChristianArcand@WEEI I personally wouldn't kill Vrabel for losing one playoff game to Lamar Jackson and one where Tannehill threw 3 interceptions.
But I also didn't love hearing this Vrabel quote last week haha.
With Van Pelt getting the hook along w Mayo now next season the Patriots will almost surely have their 5th different OC in 5 seasons
Poverty franchise.
@Scott_Spratt@CoachJSGordon@ChristianArcand@WEEI That’s where I struggle. That team was 9-7 the two years before Vrabel. They won a playoff game the season before he was hired as HC with Mularkey and Mariota.
He only had 10+ wins in 2/6 seasons there.
He only won a playoff game in 1 season there. Not overachieving imo.
@josh_ff@CoachJSGordon@ChristianArcand@WEEI I think the high public opinion of Vrabel is because he overachieved with a Titans team that people didn't think was great.
Winning 9 or 10 games most years isn't amazing on the surface, but it's more impressive when it's with Mariota and Tannehill at QB.
@Scott_Spratt@CoachJSGordon@ChristianArcand@WEEI Sometimes a team gets hot at the right time and makes that run. Just ask the Patriots new offensive line coach who did the same thing as a HC.
Don’t hear what I’m not saying. Vrabel is >> Marrone. I just prefer a mystery box over a guy whose resume I don’t love.
@Scott_Spratt@CoachJSGordon@ChristianArcand@WEEI Now that doesn’t apply to Josh McDaniels - because he has proved he stinks as a HC.
I still just don’t look at Vrabel as a guy who accomplished much either. He had a great run with 9-7 Titans team that made the Champ Game. Had won a playoff game outside of that.
Giants senior advisor Ryan Cowden has accepted a job with the Patriots, per sources. Cowden will have a big role in the New England front office, and be reunited with Mike Vrabel.
Title will be along the lines of VP of player personnel. He'll be de facto No. 2 to Eliot Wolf.
@troymeans@AlbertBreer He was also on staff for the Giants 2023 draft class though.
I also don’t love the Titan’s hit rates when Cowden was on staff there.
Hopefully it works better in New England, but I don’t love the hire.
@AlbertBreer And the giants 2024 class was elite. Nabers home run, Tracy a sure fire RB1. Theo Johnson looked great and Nubin looked promising too. Cowden played a big part in the giants best draft class in years
In #CLEvsCIN, it doesn't matter if Joe Burrow's knee is on the ground or not. The contact that caused him to lose his balance was by his teammate, not by a defender.
Good ruling of touchdown here.
@KingPickit@RapSheet What? No. It never was. I said he wasn’t touched. Gene said it doesn’t matter if his knee was on the ground or not because he wasn’t touched. He wasn’t “down by contact” so the play continues and the touchdown stares.
If you want to keep arguing, I’d suggest Gene’s DMs.
@KingPickit@RapSheet Are you saying you know more ball than Gene Steratore? Praise ye praise ye pick king. Go get on the field and fix the officiating this year then.

@KingPickit@RapSheet If his knee is down (which it was) because of contact with the opposing team, he doesn’t have to be touched. You clearly don’t know ball my friend.
