After 12 to 18 months, the foundation is stronger. Then expand carefully. Add one or two more quality stocks with consistent earnings and reliable dividend history. Avoid trends. Focus on durability. This process is not designed for quick returns.

How to achieve long-term financial freedom and prepare for retirement. ₦300,000 is not small money. Used properly, it becomes a starting point. Keep the structure simple. Start like this:
• ₦120,000 in GTCO
• ₦120,000 in Zenith Bank
• ₦60,000 in a money market fund

@ThatJuDaH Even if it seems you are too heavy on banks, it's still not bad. You chose tier 1 banks which is solid ad it is. I believe at this early stage you're not hoping on dividend to feed. Those 3 banks will not fail. UBA may have not paid dividend but they are still solid.

If you plan to go into the Nigerian stock market or you are already an investor with 1m - 5m Capital, your focus should be 3-4 stocks, you don't need too much. Remember you are new to this with limited capital.

@TomolaGroup Because of this talk of own from different sectors, people have various stocks that isn’t really profitable to their agenda and target. Someone who owns just GTCO & Zenith and put 2M back in 2024 will be better off as of today, dividend + capital appreciation.

@armanifeante @iam_norbie Dangote did step in, Femi would have unseated Tony, Tony knew it that's why he increased his stake personally and also through his family. Tony didn't just buy it back, Femi agreed to sell to him when Dangote begged him to let it go, He sold it back significantly higher.

This story may not be true but I know that one of the things Dangote and Otedola has in common is there animosity for Tony Elumelu. In 2005, Charles soludo - the CBN governor mandated all commercial banks to provide 25 Billion naira to stay in business Tony Elumelu ran to Otedola to support him in acquiring UBA that was struggling to meet the mandate, and he was given $20m in exchange for shares. When Otedola wanted to liquidate his UBA shares 2years later, Tony convinced him to hold it Then in 2008, Otedola went Bankrupt and his supposed friend Tony didn’t hesitate to collect all his UBA shares to offset Otedola debt to UBA. Again in 2012, Otedola told Tony about his plan to Acquire a particular power plant, Tony went behind his back to buy it 😂 The Transcorp issues nko?? When Otedola tried to take over Transcorp from Tony, he secretly bought 5% of Transcorp and when Tony found out, he rallied around and increase his shares to 25% stopping the hostile takeover Then he used an American firm to buy Otedola’s 5% Elumelu is a ruthless businessman. 😂

Aliko Dangote Speaks Out on Why He Distanced Himself from Tony Elumelu In 2021, when the refinery I was building was only half-completed, I ran out of funds to continue the project. I reached out to many of my business colleagues for financial assistance, including Femi Otedola, Abdulsamad Rabiu, and Mike Adenuga. I also reached out to Tony Elumelu. He promised to assist me with $20 million, and I believed him to be a man of his word. However, after three months passed without hearing from him, I tried to get in touch, only to discover that he had blocked my contact everywhere. I was unable to reach him and felt truly heartbroken.  Fortunately, my other business colleagues came together and raised $500 million for me. Femi Otedola will always be my brother for life; he alone contributed $300 million toward that $500 million total.
