@howertonjosh I'd be a lot stronger on A. Implying (subtly or not) that interracial marriage is wrong is a denigration of the image of God by drawing lines against your fellow men or women that God did not.

Rounding up two things from X in the last month: A) You’ve jumped the shark and you’re more “based” than you are Biblical if you’re subtly implying interracial marriage is bad. There are 0 Bible verses that say that. There are a HOST that demonstrate the opposite: That there are fundamentally two “races” — “in Adam” and “in Christ” and the marriage command is for people in Christ to marry someone else who’s in Christ. B) Sharing your testimony, even when saved from salacious sin, is good actually and makes you a trophy of grace to the glory of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul was VERY publicly and frequently open about the sin he was saved from, and his was a LOT worse than promiscuity (Acts 29:9-11, Galatians 1:13, 1 Tim 1:13, 1 Cor 15:9, Phil 3:6)

@JoshHamrick10 @intj68 @howertonjosh Or a natural tendency to prefer the familiar, i.e. someone that looks like what one grew up around. There's nothing wrong with that. Why only white towards black? That's a racist statement.

@intj68 @howertonjosh Usually, and when its white people towards black people in America, almost always. Where do you think those preferences originate from? Innate holiness?

@intj68 @howertonjosh Preferences are natural and apply across all areas of life. Like all areas of life, they can be sinful, and we need to watch for that, but if a person finds themselves more or less attracted to a particular skin color for no sinful reason then I think that's totally fine.

@howertonjosh Is it ok to have a preference when marrying or advising your children on marriage? Are preferences a sin?

@JoshuaBarzon "The Passion Translation says..." Bethel/Elevation music Secular music at any point, but especially during service - literally went to a church once that opened with a Queen song "Bart Ehrman/Richard Rohr/Rob Bell/Bill Johnson/Kenneth Copeland/Joyce Meyer says..."

@88mph121 @MasonSCraig Except common sense. Immaculate conception = Mary is Jesus' only earthly parent Brothers = sons of the same parent, of which there is only one option All us prots do is use the brains and the scriptures God gave us. It isn't complicated. Why on earth would RCs die on this hill?

@pudicat11 @thisisfoster Not any earthen vessel will do, or perhaps not any earthen vessel should do. There are qualifications in scripture, i.e. a man of one wife, above reproach, keeps his household in order etc. There are a lot of us earthen vessels who lack divinely given qualifications.

If you don't have a generational leadership pipeline, the longevity of your church is at risk. 2 Tim 2:1-2 reads, "You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also." Four generations are in view in a single verse: Paul → Timothy → Faithful men → Others also. This is the divine strategy for the preservation of a local church.

BREAKING: 1st Detransitioner to Take a Medical-Malpractice Lawsuit to Trial Wins $2 Million Judgement Fox Varian sued her Westchester, NY, area psychologist and plastic surgeon for the gender-transition mastectomy she got at 16. I was the only reporter to attend the entire 3-week, historic trial. Subscribe to my Substack to receive an alert about the feature article I have coming out next week in a major publication out about the trial: benryan.substack.com. I cover pediatric gender medicine as a specialty on my Substack. Sorry to just give just a teaser for now about the case! But I wanted to get the word out about the verdict promptly, the slower pace of feature-article publishing notwithstanding. The entire case file was put under seal when the trial started (although I obtained all those documents before they was sealed), and all the transcripts from the trial are also under seal. The riveting trial was sparsely attended and there was only one other reporter at the trial; and he only attended for part of it and, as I observed, took few notes. So my own hundreds of pages of notes from the trial will likely remain the only way for the public to learn about the all finer details of what transpired, possibly ever (or until an appeal, should that happen). In addition to my article coming out in the media outlet soon, I intend to write a lot about what I observed and learned on my Substack over the coming weeks. Stay tuned…

@YourCalvinist Can you link to the original video? @howertonjosh has undergone some changes in the last several years, not sure if he'd stand by this anymore. Seriously though, Paula White is soooooo bad.

I 'm encouraged to see the first volumes of this great series of 40-day Bible studies now available. Each volume is designed for personal and group study. I am currently working on the volume for 1-3 John. If you are looking for solid material for Bible study, check these out.

@howertonjosh @RealPJGlassey I recognize that I'm a normal person with flaws, weaknesses, and the potential for a lack of self control in the wrong circumstances. A wise man implements guardrails first, they don't wait until after the crash. I think of it like a moral Dunning-Kruger effect.

This is important. When people say, "Or, you could just be a normal person that can control themselves around others"... it's not just about the character of the person; it's about the reality of a world where people falsely accuse public figures of misconduct for (significant) attention and out of hatred

@howertonjosh Christianity is the greatest good possible, both for the individual and the collective. It is government's role and responsibility to promote the greatest good possible for the collective and the individual. I made this far too complicated for most of my life up to now.

Christians applying their faith to politics is good. The whole Word to the issues of the whole World. ... but politics cannot fix what politics did not break. Any system that is broken is downstream of the fact that *we* are broken.

@howertonjosh Agree with all of your pro-dp reasons from the pod, but would add one. Capital punishment is just and right. It benefits society for all of your reasons, but it is also the just consequence for certain crimes, and it would be just and right even if it provided no other benefit.

@thisisfoster That was us, though a couple of weeks ago we moved to a loaned space belonging to another church. God's been really generous to us. Bumps in the road, lessons learned, and our congregation grows closer and stronger. A church just needs godly preaching and love. I love my church.

@howertonjosh "The best of men are men at best." Sproul, I think. "If you find a perfect church, don't join it. You'd spoil it." Maybe Graham. The perfect church can only exist in the New Jerusalem. For now, good is the best there is. We couldn't handle perfect anyway.

Why is Netflix targeting children with tr*ns propaganda? What if I told you that it's merely a continuance of a *COVERT* strategy created in the 1980s to take over our culture? The plan worked, too. This one is going to absolutely blow your mind 👇

When I was 17 and a brand new believer I got roped into going to some SBC youth event, and Voddie was the main speaker. I still remember and talk about that with my friends who were there. Powerful. My two favorite lines I’ve never forgotten 25 years later: “God is not fair! Glory hallelujah praise the Lord.” “Unless you are a doctor or a drug dealer, turn your cell phone off.”

“Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom! Give ear to the teaching of our God, you people of Gomorrah! “What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the Lord; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats. “When you come to appear before me, who has required of you this trampling of my courts? Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me. New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations— I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly. Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates; they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. “When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood. “Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.” Isaiah 1:10-17 ESV
