Assembled my first MOSQUITO BUCKET OF DOOM. A "Mosquito Bucket of Doom" is a highly effective, eco-friendly DIY trap that lures female mosquitoes into a stagnant water mixture to lay eggs, only to kill the resulting larvae before they can mature. It is supposed to be an excellent alternative to indiscriminate chemical fogging that protects local pollinators and pets. So we’re giving it a go this year and will report back on the results. HOW TO BUILD YOUR BUCKET: Building the trap takes only about five minutes and costs around $15 for the supplies (links at bottom). 1) Grab a 5-Gallon Bucket: Dark-colored buckets (black, green, or blue) mimic natural stagnant breeding grounds best. 2) Add Organic Matter: Fill the bucket about 2/3 full with water and toss in a small handful of organic debris (like grass clippings, dried leaves, or hay). This ferments, releasing carbon dioxide that attracts mosquitoes. 3) Add the Larvicide: Drop in 1/4 to 1/2 of a Mosquito Dunk. These contain Bti (a naturally occurring soil bacterium) that is fatal to mosquito larvae. 4) Protect Wildlife & Pets: To keep curious pets, frogs, or chipmunks from drinking the water, cover the top with chicken wire, a mesh screen, or a drilled lid. 5) Place It: Put the bucket in a shaded area, out of direct sunlight. Place it along the perimeter of your yard, away from where you typically sit or hang out, as the fermenting stew can have an earthy, swamp-like odor. Maintenance & Effectiveness: Refresh the Bacteria: The Bti in the water lasts for about 30 days. Set a calendar reminder to add a new chunk of a Mosquito Dunk every month during warmer months when mosquitos are active. Expect a Delay: The Bucket of Doom does not kill adult mosquitoes. It interrupts the breeding cycle to prevent new generations. You should notice a significant drop in your backyard's mosquito population within a few weeks as the existing adults die off naturally. Scale Appropriately: For an average neighborhood lot (approx 1/5 of an acre) about 2 to 3 buckets strategically placed around your property provide optimal relief. For my lot I assembled 4 buckets (2 in back fence next to woods, 1 near garden, 1 in front yard). @DDW575 yup - after doing the dri-fit, poly blended stuff for years, I've switched back to cotton. Give me my sweat soaked cotton tee.

One of the shifts I've made with my gym style: All of my tops are in 100% cotton (in some cases Supima cotton). Tees - both long and short sleeve Sweatshirts Running shirts etc. I don't care that cotton absorbs sweat. It actually feels nice.

@WellBuiltStyle Best decision for us was moving from 3 to 4. We had 3 boys. The 4th gave us a girl and brought out a softer side in everyone.

I've got three kids and I never planned on having three. Felt that 2 was the limit for my wife and I financially. So when I learned that I was having a third...there was definitely an "oh shit" factor. But alas, we are making it work. I literally cannot imagine not having three. Best decision I've ever made (that was forced upon me!).
