Took `REPACK (CONCURRENTLY)` (which, with luck will land in Postgres 19) for a test drive over the weekend.
This feature is so cool — the benefits of a `VACUUM FULL`, but without the exclusive table lock. Uses replication/logical decoding under the hood.

@paolino @bradgessler Yea @_byroot put a ton of work into that, it's a huge win. I seem to remember seeing that 8+ does it... better? But it is a part of Rails 7.2 as well.

Who has the best resources on scaling Postgres Rails apps that are hooked into and running Solid Queue?
Seems like the name of the game is dialing in the size of database thread pools so the app has enough connections, but not too many where pgbouncer or pg falls over.

@paolino @bradgessler I think this + my batch support work github.com/rails/solid_qu… would be a crazy unlock for being able to coordinate IO workloads/LLM interactions. Fully parallelized tool calls with a batch checkpoint at the end

@bradgessler I made an async runner for Solid Queue which will eliminate the need for a big DB pool. Instead of 1 connection per thread, it only requires 3 per process and can run hundreds of fibers in one. github.com/rails/solid_qu…

Currently in ActiveJob, `wait` in `retry_on` accepts a proc, but it is only handed the execution count. I think access to the error can also be useful when calculating the next wait time. If you agree, give it a like! github.com/rails/rails/pu…
