Our first round of rain has left much of the area in a fog this evening. More rain and stronger winds will take care of it later tonight, but until then take it slow and be prepared for rapid changes in visibility. #MEwx #NHwx

@buketduder @NWSBoston tell that to the people of leominster and see where that gets ya. you reply to almost every one of their posts with nothing but negativity and how wrong they are yet hardly show HOW they’re wrong and how the public won’t listen to them as if they’d listen to you. pack it up homie
English

@NWSBoston I remember summer of 2023 you had flood warnings up for WEEKS straight...no one listena to this garbage..it was 80 and sunny...stop doing this stuff by county...it makes no sense
English

A Flood Warning means TAKE ACTION. A Flood Watch means BE PREPARED. When a Warning occurs, it means flooding is imminent or already occurring. When a Flood Watch is in effect, it means flooding is possible in your area. bit.ly/2DAuJOT

morning folks @NWSBoston @WX1BOX was the weekly tone alarm test conducted over NWR yet this morning? havent heard anything on my receiver since 11?
English

@NWSGray good evening folks, quick question regarding possible upgrades to the winter storm watch in place - if warnings are issued in the next overnight update will they be tone alerted over NWR stations or will the “blackout hours” (as ive heard it coined) inhibit NWR tone out?
English

@NWSBoston good evening friends, I noticed that the office has relayed a CEM at the request of RIEMA, has this been toned out on NWR as of yet? tuned into the worcester station that covers Providence Co., havent heard it yet, unsure if this will only be relayed on WXJ39. thanks!
English

@mike61400 @NWSBoston they always update their long fused products (such as WSWs BZWs HWWs) around the 2-4pm timeframe usually around 36ish hours before the onset of whatever the hazard is

@Stealth40k i get the criticism bc it’s someone new filling the shoes of what we have all heard since pretty much childhood, but saying he hasnt been improving with each new mario entry since wonder is plain wrong (and his luigi is already phenomenal). I have full faith and respect for kevin
English

The new voice of Mario, Kevin Afghani says he has a tremendous amount of respect for Charles Martinet.
"Look, Charles, as far as I'm concerned, IS Mario. He created something that is so unbelievably iconic. And he did it so masterfully. If I wasn't nervous, then I'm the wrong guy.
I'm the second guy who's doing Mario. Charles is THE guy. There is such an unbelievable respect for Charles. He is amazing."

There are some stellar NWS WFOs out there. I was privileged to grow up in BOX's CWA for the first 19 years of my life.
Top-notch forecasters who always go the extra mile... and taking the time to respond, in detail, to public questions like this fosters trust in scientists:
NWS Boston@NWSBoston
@BenWx_Official As a rule of thumb, we average the top of the boundary layer wind with the mean layer wind. In this case, roughly 45–55 kt could mix to the surface. But with strong CAA, even the full momentum from the top of the boundary layer can occasionally mix down. [3/3]

@MatthewCappucci grandparents were both living in worcester at the time and my grandmother always tells me her ma lifted her up to look out the window, there it was churning over the city. closest to my neck of the woods a tornado of this magnitude has struck albeit being 72 years ago
English

The June 9, 1953 Worcester, Massachusetts tornado.
Stout EML (also associated with the Flint, Michigan F5).
Was on the ground for 78 minutes, demolished structurally-sound 3-decker homes, killed 94, left 10,000 homeless, carried debris 100+ miles…
Everyone knows it was F5.

cyber_wx@ChadWx1
Which Tornado Deserved EF5?
English

good evening @NWSGray unsure if this is a known issue by now but I’ve been noticing recently the GYX NWR transmitters have been looping the “temporarily off the air” message at least twice a day for the last week now. Figure I’d report in case this was not a known issue.
English

@nightsky56 @NWSBoston 5 separate tornadoes. while yes one may think multiple touchdowns associated within the same storm is just one tornado, they consider them different tornadoes if say the circulation were to die out but then come back, or if touchdowns are more than 2 miles apart from each other
English

@NWSBoston Was this 5 separate tornadoes or 5 touchdowns of 1 or more tornadoes?
English

[FINAL Storm Survey Results from Sept 6 2025] Our storm survey team found a total of 5 EF-1 tornadoes occurred in central MA on Sept 6th. A detailed text summary can be found at this link: tinyurl.com/bdfkrpnb

@CabbageFred44 @AustinR_WX @NWSBoston “never have the issues in texas” yea cause we don’t get tornadoes the same way texas does just like they don’t get some of the harsh cold we get in the winter lol. stupid argument let the officials do their thing
English

@AustinR_WX @NWSBoston Yes you can. Bs. Never have the issues in Texas. This is weak
