@LeighGiangreco You do you as the saying goes, but I can't stand wearing masks and won't. I don't object to others who make difference choices. :)

@SusanPage @USATODAY I just pre-ordered your latest book. Now, how to convince you to write a book about the "other" Kennedy women--Ethel and Joan.

Heads-up: What did Queen Elizabeth really think about President Trump? The first exclusive excerpt from "The Queen and Her Presidents" reveals her crucial, calming phone call to him during a furor. In @USATODAY in the AM (and BTW available for preorder) >>>

@neeratanden This is all so exhausting. It's why so many people hate politics and don't engage.

Trump just denied a deal by Thune to fund TSA - please call Trump and ask him to fund TSA since it's apparently his decision.

Thank you Senator @ossoff for making these children miss their mission trip. I hope you are proud of yourself. Shame! Shame! Shame!

Making our roads safer from drunk driving requires commitment, authenticity and the skill to navigate naysayers.
Those are some of the lessons discussed when @MADDNational CEO Stacey Stewart meets GHSA CEO @jraindc at “The Intersection."

I’ll admit I’m getting a little frustrated that some safety groups seem to almost celebrate even small bumps in the AV rollout. We absolutely should hold tech companies accountable and insist on strong safety standards. More here from Daniel Zimmerman:

@HeyAustinDean LOL. I've tried to block that horrible business from my memory.

@Tabbatha80 Hodge isn't the right guy. Not sure how he got hired given his light resume.
English

@AbramsonFL @kpottermn I never go into that FLL location. It's awful.

@kpottermn The Escape Lounge in Ft Lauderdale is very mediocre, but we don’t have an actual Centurion Lounge to feed it

It’s a shame that a lot of city transportation policy is driven by the anti-tech, anti-car absolutism that dominates urbanism today.
TNCs, like AVs, give people a better option when they can’t drive, shouldn’t drive, or don’t feel comfortable driving - an undeniably good thing.

At yesterday’s Senate Commerce Committee hearing, Professor @bwalkersmith said we already have technologies that can drive a vehicle, and some of those same technologies can detect whether a human is capable of safely driving, including whether they are sleeping or drunk.
That reality is exactly why the HALT Drunk Driving Law matters. If vehicles rely on humans to take over, preventing impaired driving must be standard. HALT requires technology to stop drunk driving before it happens and save lives now.
The technology exists. Create the standard. Every day we wait, 34 people die in drunk driving crashes.

So sorry for you Rachael & all your readers. You are a pro & have been just about the facts on Metro & other important transportation topics. Whether Metro does something well or makes mistakes & needs to be held accountable to improve, we need more not less local media coverage

I stopped posting here after one of my (now-former) colleagues was doxxed by white nationalists for writing a story that featured an interracial couple but just to close some loops: I’ve been laid off by the Washington Post. You can find me on the other apps.

@Lokay @darrenrovell I don't know about all that, but there's a point here. I'm a Post subscriber and a huge sports fan, but I've not looked at the Post's sports section in years.
English

@darrenrovell You once went after one of my colleagues for scooping you on a sandwich after a team had promised you the exclusive.
Journalism!

The Washington Post isn't cutting the sports section today because Jeffrey Bezos is a ghoul or hates journalism.
It's because journalism that doesn't meet the public where they are and where they want to be can't make money.

Feeling for all the great reporters @wapo this morning. The Metro Section was the only real reason I subscribed. All the President’s Men made me love & respect news. I want to read from smart people who know things & hold power accountable, not random bot opinions on Twitter.

Unpopular opinion: I'm a @washingtonpost subscriber and a huge sports fan but I haven't read their sports coverage in years.
