@614Buckeye @gecffmn I agree. Looking back. We were 18 and 19. Crazy thing is like two days later we walked passed them in the hotel lobby and we didn’t say anything but they looked right at us and didn’t even know we were the ones who saved them.

Terafab First, the Advanced Technology Fab— where new manufacturing technologies are proven out. Think of it as the prototype line. Then Terafab itself: By a wide margin, it will be the largest factory in the world. Let's guess at sizing: Quick math tying it to the 1 TW target + 250W AI5 chips 1 TW = 1,000,000,000,000 watts of AI compute capacity. Each AI5 chip draws ~250W Chips needed annually for 1 TW scale: 10¹² W ÷ 250 W/chip = 4 billion chips/year. To produce 4 billion AI5 chips per year (the volume needed for 1 TW of compute at 250 W/chip), a Terafab-scale facility modeled on current TSMC fabs would require 3,000–5,000+ acres or land and 280–350+ million square feet of total building/floor space. Obviously innovations must be applied. I'd hazard a guess at a 100 million sq ft size factory.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

No, that’s just the little advanced technology fab, where we will be iterating on chip designs. We couldn’t possibly fit the Terafab on the GigaTexas campus. It will be far bigger than everything else combined there. Several locations for Terafab are under consideration. It needs thousands of acres and over 10GW of power at full scale.

Tesla is one of the few manufacturers that produces its seats in-house. They make some of the best seats out there. Here are two Model S seats, the one on the left shows wear after 453,000 miles, the other at 31,000. Incredible how well they held up.

@niccruzpatane Model S seats, not a huge visual difference between the one on the right with 50,000km use and the outgoing seat on left with 730,000km. Tesla interiors hold up really well if you regularly clean them. Worst is hair products and moisturisers/sunscreens left.

Interesting that for the 2025 model S/X cars, Tesla cut costs on the car computer considerably. The dedicated GPU is gone (good thing all the crazy gaming stuff is gone from the website too). The RAM still remains at 16G though unlike the current crop of 3/y/ct, the NVMe is dropped to 128G (from 256)

What was the market for big touchscreen phones vs ones with keyboards when the iPhone launched?
Gary Black@garyblack00

@teslaownersSV You’re forgetting the Cybercab will have just two seats - a market that makes up less than 1% of the market. So demand will be limited.

@garyblack00 @SawyerMerritt I’ll make it easy for you. I have never before considered purchasing a 2 seat car. If Cybercab becomes available to customers with a steering wheel. I would 100% buy one.

Your analogy with the cell phone industry shifting to bigger screens is analogous to the EV industry going autonomous - not whether autonomous vehicles will have 2 or 4 seats. Apple started the big screen trend, but all cellphone competitors copied the practice of offering larger screens including the market leaders Samsung, LG, and HTC. I have argued many times full autonomy is table stakes for auto manufacturers - those who don’t master unsupervised autonomy won’t survive. I’m simply arguing that most consumers would prefer to buy a 4-seat fully autonomous vehicle vs. a 2-seat fully autonomous vehicle.

@MatthewDR @greggertruck I don’t think it’s crazy. If they sell to customers they instantly make a profit then charge the customer a never ending fee to have the vehicle in there Taxi Service. They would not have to make back the costs of Manufacturing the vehicle.
