@ElectAndChosen You explained the word “Bible.” Great. Now explain why your doctrines aren’t in those books. No one said it’s one book. We said it’s one standard. And that standard exposes your tradition [Isaiah 8:20].

If Rome owns the Bible, then why does the Bible contradict Rome’s doctrines?

@Modern1689 @johnctristan @redeemed_zoomer Not sure what is meant to be implied by the unfortunate reality that those who hold to the truth are now in the minority. Jesus tells us that the way is narrow and only a few will find it?

Is it fair to say that within every major Protestant denomination that the most conservative, historic, orthodox representations of that tradition are now the minority?

@certaresnovis @poperespecter1 I disagree with the “lesser of two evils” statement. That’s a straw man argument. We have this thing called the “primaries” in which people have options to choose the nominee of the party. Many are just enamored with DJT.

Quite literally nowhere to go but up from Trumpstein. The cosmos needs a break from this ontological Black Hole. Hold the “liberal!” and “commie!” accusations I voted for him three times. Lesser of two evils. Because the oligarchs who select them for us always choose two evils. Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur. The world wants to be deceived, so let it be deceived.

@Bill_Dewahl @Waffenator1934 @JevanShevu @poperespecter1 Let’s get our terminology straight. When we refer to dead vs alive, we are speaking of the normal usage of being dead vs alive from our perspective. Of course we know that we all have an eternal conscious spirit and soul. But in normal usage the deceased are not conscious.

@JevanShevu @poperespecter1 The problem with intercession is that we ask people on earth to pray for us is that we generally feel that they may have more influence. Again Jesus already knows our needs and his love for us is perfect and His desire is greater than those who intercede for us.

@JevanShevu @poperespecter1 The problem with that analogy is that Jesus is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. He is never too busy, that He is unaware of or too busy to hear our prayers.

@raj05064 @poperespecter1 Resent Mary!!! That’s a new one. Now maybe during her time on earth there may have been other virgins that were aware of the prophecies, and could have been hoping God would choose them???… but I sincerely doubt that there are women or men today that are jealous of Mary.

@redeemed_zoomer I respect your decision. I logged off of X for awhile because it’s becoming toxic. I came back vowing to be one to promote understanding and reconciliation. But, I’m finding people don’t want peace. They crave to fight.

@redeemed_zoomer @logos_asarkos It’s a nuanced but important distinction. Works do not earn salvation but they prove the validity of the faith by which we are justified before God through Christ. Works prove out faith is genuine. And in that sense works are necessary.

I'm not crazy about these ecumenical events (not sure what they accomplish tbh) but stop acting like they are the end of the world. Popes exchange nice words. Pray. And everything goes back to normal. Pope Benedict did them too. Here is he is with a female Lutheran "bishop".

@jimmyblack33 @1984_nate I should also add that I take absolutely no credit whatsoever for believing, because I know the wretch that I am. Again I just refuse to be boxed in to a human description of things far beyond my ability to understand.

@jimmyblack33 @1984_nate I absolutely agree that God is sovereign. He also commands that I repent and believe/trust in Christ for my salvation. I don’t have to explain the how. God is above my pay grade. I don’t place labels on a certain theory.

The "who were born" at the beginning of John 1:13 is KEY. THAT is what John is referring to as being "the will of God and not of man." It has NOTHING to do with why one receives Christ. Only someone with a presupposition of regeneration preceding faith would think otherwise.

Many Catholics think that St Peter was the first Catholic Church that was built, but it wasn’t. St. John Luteran is the very first Catholic church that was built. It has the skulls of St. Peter and St. Paul above the altar and also a piece of wood from the actual table where Jesus had his last supper with his disciples. The Catholic Church knows how to keep history.

@pudicat11 @JoshuaBarzon While households were baptized, it is only an assumption that there were infants. All households eventually arrive at a point in which they stop having or in between children. The presence of infants is an assumption. The requirement of repentance/faith are absolutes.

"Entire households were baptized." In those days households were extended families that undoubtedly contained babies. Show me one place in Scripture where the baptism of babies is prohibited. It is prohibited in the Mormon religion which ought be a clue how great and gracious the Baptism of infants is.
