This feels like a leftist Democrat that’s still frazzled and reaching—Let’s track with the facts here. 👉This is Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), a Judiciary Committee ranking member who’s spent years leading high-profile anti-Trump efforts (impeachments, Jan. 6, etc.), appearing on Jen Psaki’s MSNBC show. He’s responding to Eric Trump publicly bragging on Fox Business about a $24 million Pentagon/DoD contract (research deals with Army, Navy, Air Force) won by Foundation Future Industries, a robotics/humanoid tech firm where Eric serves as chief strategy adviser. Raskin spins it into: Trump is pushing an “Orban or Putin or Xi-type government” via “state capitalism” where the leader’s family and allies loot the treasury. Then he drops the “bombshell”—an unnamed Republican colleague was at the White House and heard “someone from the Trump family” say they’ll be “the RICHEST FAMILY on earth” when the administration ends…🙄@RepRaskin @jrpsaki

#BREAKING: Rep Raskin: “Trump essentially wants to move us into an Orban or Putin or Xi-type government…I have a Republican colleague who told me he was at the White House and was told by someone from the Trump family we are going to be the RICHEST FAMILY on earth when this administration is over.”😳

@micah_erfan Democrats brutally gerrymandered New York, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Oregon, New Mexico, New Jersey, CT, ME, and Nevada. Not a single resident got a vote on it. You WANT gerrymandering, you just dont want the other side balancing out your gerrymanders. Spare us.

Turns out passing a simple law that says if you want to vote in the USA, you must be a citizen of the USA - is too difficult for our Senators. But on the positive side - most of them are excellent stock pickers.

@ThePiperPie Part of the problem with this analysis is that elections are covered like sportsball. No one is winning or losing at 10 p.m. Votes are not counted in a linear way in innings or periods. There are no comebacks or rallies. There is one pool of votes and whoever gets the most wins.

@jrichardsmith Does Trump have a multiple decade track record of winning suspiciously close elections? I said close elections can happen, but they shouldn't happen constantly. Lie or use data without context a third time and you're blocked.

@DrInsensitive What was egregiously false? Clearly Republicans had done this in other states, Virginia was responding. No one made a secret of this.

Here is the actual Virginia redistricting ballot question, from the official Virginia government website. It is so egregiously false, the democrat party leadership obviously believed no judge would defy them. However, judge DID defy them: Kudos to Tazewell County Circuit Court Judge Jack S. Hurley Jr. But don't celebrate. That same judge tried to prevent the referendum on the same grounds, but he was overruled by the Virginia Supreme Court. They will likely overrule him again, and reinstate the redistricting, thus vindicating the Dem's conviction that they own the judiciary.

VIRGINIA OK, I am trying to organize my thoughts about yesterday's vote in Virginia. Here is my analysis from my capturing of the election night reporting data. There was an "f-curve" at 8:59pm that was actually preceded by a near f-curve at 8:43. These 2 updates wiped away what had been a decent lead for "no redistricting". Interestingly, at 9:16 there was another big jump for "yes". From my analysis, most of the votes from all 3 of these came from Fairfax County, one of Virginia's most reliable vote manufacturing hubs. My old pet peeve, totals going down rather than up, was way too frequent. 23 counties had at least one case of "negative votes", including Chesterfield's whopping 71,903 deduction at 10:45 this morning (April 22). Augusta had a 11,968 deduction at 10:18. A whopping 13 counties had deductions in the SAME REPORT at 7:41PM on the 21st (for a total of 18,476). This is not acceptable and needs explained. (Other than, "well these numbers aren't official". They are official enough to show on the news.) And, of course, the referendum was ultimately lost because of mail-in votes. About 10% of the total was mail-in, and about 73% were "yes". We have no way of knowing how many of these were real people casting a vote for themselves, but they added net 137,000 votes for "yes" and that is almost 50,000 more than the currently reported winning margin for "yes". (The same applies for the election of Commissar Spanberger) In summary, a completely preventable train wreck. I hope that the Republican leaders in Virginia are now convinced that mail-in ballots and machine counting are not our friends. I also hope they start asking the hard questions of counties like Chesterfield. It's going to be easiest to read this, shrug, and move on. Please don't. Please forward on, especially if you know people in Virginia. But the same thing will happen in every other state, eventually, if its not stopped. You can see the raw data for yesterday's election at votedatabase.com/2026 - select Virginia, unknown party, then statewide or whatever county you want to examine. I'm here if anyone has questions.

@MaryTracy1101 I assume they give you 50% back. I doubt they give you nothing back. Some stores don’t even make you buy two to get the special price. But listing it as BOGO makes people think they HAVE to buy two.

@TPCarney We shouldn’t even care about city/county lines. County lines especially have no real meaning for anyone’s life. Every district should be drawn in a way that maximizes the competitiveness. The fewer safe seats the better.

I agree Republicans should do this. Their bill should 1) Ban mid-decade redistricting. 2) Require states to draw districts that follow county lines and city lines. 3) Favor compactness. 4) Make it clear the VRA's pro-racial-gerrymander provisions are subordinate to the above.
gato fumante@KweenInYellow

@TPCarney Okay so then where's the Republican standalone bill to ban political gerrymandering?
