In November 2007, a drunk driver struck Stacy’s van not more than a few miles from his house and changed his life in one instant. The accident took the lives of Stacy’s wife and four of his five children with only 4-year-old Shelly surviving. A year later, Stacy and his daughter, both recovered from their injuries, brought the game ball out for the 2008 Iron Bowl and more than 100,000 people inside Bryant-Denny Stadium wept and cheered in unison for the strength and faith of the Stacy family.
