@HarryBerezin @gggiants They definitely drafted better in that era and built some solid players from within. But Sabean always tried to keep them relevant. Not sure ownership would allow them to do a complete tear down. And not sure if posey is the right leader for that?

@gggiants Yeah. I saw 2008 as an inflection point. Once Barry was gone, they stopped feeling like they needed to surround him with vets. To me, that was when the rebuild started. And by the end of that year, things were starting to look up.

I completely disagree that “Giants fans won’t tolerate a rebuild.” Since I started watching baseball (almost 40 years ago) we’ve only actually tried to rebuild once. It took us like 2 years and we won a World Series.
I know I’m not alone here.

I am a little surprised not to see the Brewers at the top of the list. There is a glaring issue with the Giants' perception of pitching development. It's tough to be a pitching/defense team when they are viewed poorly in developing one of those categories...

I can't stand the "it's cute" sneering. It's just sneering. I also love it when people who don't understand the reporting process decide to lecture the world about it. The Giants' job is a big one. Various ways for good reporters to hear about the discussions. Or just sneer.
