Don't normally jump into the fray on these sorts of matters. Finally finished this debate. Glad to see the dialogue. A few thoughts:

2). "Civic good" and "temporary relief" are both crucial topics to parse out in light of scripture & Christian tradition-as are "sola scriptura" vs. "solo scriptura". All of these, understood in the light of Christian history, are broader than many bib. counselors seem to imply.

The appeal to Powlison is understandable. He demonstrated a charitable approach to these issues and served with counselors of multiple backgrounds, to include licensed individuals.
