@AustenLamacraft @Pieter_Cl Haven't tried it myself either, but indeed if you've got the tech skills you should be able to build tools to interact with server instances. It's really opening up lots of possibilities for extensions/integrations, unlike here (despite Musk's bullshit about opening the code).

@jscaux @Pieter_Cl I've just gone down a rabbit hole on this: so Mastodon is built on the ActivityPub protocol. So I could in principle send and receive messages using any implementation of this protocol (not necessarily Mastodon). Is that right?

Some personal news: I said goodbye to Cambridge (for now) and moved to Dresden, where I am starting as a research group leader at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems! Extremely excited about this—more updates to follow soon.
