I wish e/acc had been more like the extropians of the 90s. The extropians wrote wild insane sci-fi about all the technologies we might get, and how it might radically alter society. E/acc folks just post AI art of cities on Mars and call it a day.
real quotes from current alpha readers:
"hurry the fuck up and write faster"
"if i didnt have work i would have finished this in one sitting, damn you"
"i'm only starting chapter 8 but ive picked out all the movie actors already"
"i've read worse books"
hello. i am writing a science fiction series with deep ties into silicon valley.
i am looking for a few more alpha readers (the first book is ~80% finished).
responsibilities include reading, and being interrogated about what you've read
any takers?
I respect your view on inequities in the system & inequality as serious problems. I think your views on how government should do it all is clueless about its efficacy. You will throw the baby out with the bathwater. I hope to spend my time on hard stuff towards a better society
@KY_Data_Guy Correct, that is what I'm telling you. Not sure what kind of tinpot crusade you're on here but some basic investigation before accusation might help win people over
@jschloss Well that's a huge relief. You're still comarketing with PayPal, who has a 1.1 on trustpilot. The NPS on those posts is going to be in the negative. Look what its already doing -- you're telling me you don't offer your app to the public? Can you be any more dishonest?
lol imagine doing a competitive analysis of a market and leaving out the product that's on pace to be more popular than 401k this year at the nation's largest employer. sorta makes you go hmm! prnewswire.com/news-releases/…
@jschloss And sure, to be fair, you didn't sell out, but you did sign the joint marketing agreement. Surely you can stand by that part of your decision at very least
spending resources ensuring your people can bring their whole selves to work isn't politics, it's leadership. it's not a distraction, it's an investment. you can build a valuable company by not investing in the health of your people, but... don't be mad when they call you a jerk
this says a lot about the on-demand pay market, unfortunately, and how important it is to verify the claims vendors make. This company, which claims they’re the good guys (dailypay.com/blog/beware-wo…), paid an “analyst” to pretend the most popular product in the market doesn’t exist.
I am a descendant of slaves, who knew that they would not make it, but dreamed and prayed that one day I would make it.
So despite America's complicated history, my faith is in the Constitution.
I've enforced the laws, and now I write the laws. Nobody is above the law.
“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people—does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us,” Mattis writes. theatlantic.com/politics/archi…
White people, stop asking what you can do.
Educate *yourself*
Read a book.
Apply what you learn to your profession, in the voting booth, and with your neighbors.
Black people cannot continue to suffer the harms of racism and the burdens of educating you on how it works.
The President of the United States tear-gassed peaceful protestors in order to clear the way for a useless photo-op outside the White House—just after vowing to activate the military against our own people.
Lives and our democracy are in danger.
