Gen X pro-tip, (almost) teenagers evidently don’t think it’s a compliment when you tell them their overalls are cute and they look like an extra from the “Come On Eileen” video.

So, (a brief) hello! Still WFH. My favorite things include hedgehogs, hammocks, candy, drag, brilliant books, and making my managing editor happy (on rare occasion). I currently have a broken leg that I did not acquire in any sort of cool or sporty way. Do not recommend.

Popping up from Twitter hibernation to say hello because it’s my TWENTIETH Penguin anniversary. How did that even happen? (I could really use a nap. Really really.)

@WestmedGroup Glad to know that even when nothing else functions quickly or correctly your billing systems seem just fine.

@MichaelBourret “I hope they don’t deal with him too harshly,” Jesse Ball, a novelist who had his manuscript nabbed last year, told me via email. “After all, reading so many ms pdfs must constitute its own special kind of punishment.”

@WestmedGroup I’ve been on hold for most of the last six hours. Never got requested callback. Been disconnected/hung-up-on twice.

@athenahealth I couldn’t agree more that “information disruption” is a threat to quality healthcare. It’s also a perfect way to describe my healthcare provider’s transfer to your services.

@BenHorslen The good news is that if you just wait it out, one eventually reaches my ripened age and you'll just naturally forget why-what you were intending to do in the 12 seconds it takes to open a new tab, file, etc. No extra folders required.

@BenHorslen I think the by-laws state that you can just delete them? New year, clean slate, and all that.

@maggielehrman Not exhaustive, but a check across imprints and editions (mid-80s-current) don't show any EB with upside-down solutions. Answers always at end, generally 1-2 pages (probably too long for in-story placement). But yes to Sobol's 2-MINUTE MYSTERIES. (Damn you, @ThtsWhatSheRead)

Can anyone think of kids’ mystery collections where the solution to the mystery was printed upside down? I thought this was Encyclopedia Brown, but we got a couple and they’re all right-side-up. Is this just a gimmick I imagined…?

@BenHorslen I think it’s so sweet that you’re getting such supportive feedback. But, seriously. You’re just old. Move along and soothe yourself by basking in the glow of having always known that lady from Schitt’s Creek was in both Beetlejuice AND Home Alone.

@BenHorslen Fun fact: Still in trials, but pool noodles showing promising results with aggressive stateside editors as well.
