@C4Dispatches FOI responses found 167 councils spent £56 million on pothole repairs last year. The local councils received over a million reports of potholes in that time. In East Sussex, Russ can have as many as nine cars breakdown near his home every day after being potholed.

Really grateful to all those who helped with this and/or said nice things about it. I’m also proud of myself for seeing it through at a time when my old job went and things were a bit fraught. Enough of me patting my own back though. Have a great 2024. Be nice.

Sorry for banging on about it so much these last few months but 2023 was the year I accomplished a long-held ambition in writing a book. It’s extra special that it was this one and something that my kids will one day be able to read and learn about the grandad they never knew.

Partly for those of reasons, and also so I don’t have to spend 20 mins explaining where Atherton is to people I meet on holiday.
