5/ communicate directly with pts and families e.g. for us post endoscopy esp for the critically ill - while the team cleans up/writes note - my role is usually to speak to the family. I usually just beeline to the family waiting room or to the phone to call myself.

@rbarbosa91 Further genuine question: this happened to me recently but a little later, 3 am. My partner (on call) had the resident call me to do the case even though I was not on call that weekend and had only gotten home at 10 pm. Does anyone's culture operate this way on ACS/EGS?

It is Friday night, 8:30 pm. You are on call, and one of your partner’s postop patients has a bad complication that requires something major (return to OR, etc). Your partner is not working this weekend. Again, it’s Fri 8:30 pm. When do you inform them of the complication?
