I heard a Democrat refer to ICE as a new version of a slave patrol. Slave patrols were hunting down black people to force them to go back and work for white people. ICE is sending people back to their home country because they broke the law and are here illegally. Black people were not illegal immigrants and in fact black people wanted to go back home but were not allowed to. Illegal immigrants do not want to go back home and are being required to do so. That is a racist and inaccurate comparison.

A White delivery driver told me this morning that his family came to Louisiana in the 1700s, from Spain, helping to town of New Iberia. It’s awkward because they were enslavers. My family on the other hand were enslaved in Louisiana during this period.
