@BrianCrusoe @cifsds We’ll see. The average margin of victory in the first round was 15.4 a reduction of only 3.2 points compared to the previous 3 years where the margin of victory was 18.6. Not much of a change

There are 24 @cifsds playoff games this week and only 7 teams are favored by more than 1 score. I’d say the rankings turned out pretty favorable. Should be lots of close games next weekend.

Easier said than done, but my overall thoughts. Pay the full contracts for the rest of this year to improve the value of our trade. Sell our guys, even for young far away prospects, then trade prospects (current and acquired) for MLB ready players with controllable contracts.

Essentially sell off larger contracts to clear space for bigger spending this offseason (Taillon, Bellinger, etc.) while purchasing players with multiple years of team control that can contribute next season and beyond. These would likely be separate trades.

@corey_cubs @brendan_cubs @CHGO_Cubs I would like to see the Cubs both buy and sell here at the deadline. Best case scenario would be like the 2019 Nationals, but I think our injuries would prevent that outcome…

Outfield is where the most can be done. Move Bellinger if you can (for the record I like him) and move Tauchman, might be our best trade piece. Logjam in outfield has created problems. Call up Caissie and trade from out OF prospect depth to improve

Infield is tough, Busch, Hoerner, and Swanson are all locked in, but 3B and all the backups are lost. Potentially look in to trading Morel, but only for an equally young dude with lots of team control. His value is so low I can’t fathom trading him now.

Catcher needs a full on rebuild. Don’t rush up Ballesteros, dude is doing great but he’s only 20. Target either a prospect blocked by a vet who could step in now, or a vet with control through next season who is holding a spot for the prospect in waiting.

Relievers can start from scratch. The more the young kids have gotten a shot the better they’ve done. If someone has interest in Neris, unload him. Might be able to get some value for Leiter to a contender that needs a reliever too, and maybe even flip Tyson Miller.

If you believe some combination of Assad, Wicks, Brown, or Horton are the answer, then go for it, if not then you’re going to have to pay for a free agent to make up this production. This only works if you trade for a guy now of have a FA in mind that you love. I’d keep him.

At pitcher Imanaga and Steele are untouchable. If Steele gets traded, that signals a full rebuild to me and that’s unacceptable. Trading Taillon is tricky cause he’s a solid #3 or 4 and has a reasonable contract for 2 more years. If you trade him then you need a replacement plan
