Obviously we want it to make money, but important details… SOLO: one of the most expensive films ever made, budget around $365 million before marketing, break-even point of around $600 million. TM&G: budget around $160 million, making it the cheapest modern SW film.

@ManaByte This is misleading. The $166m number is only for qualified production expenses in California in 2024. That doesn’t include any expenses in the last year and a half (like post-production or reshoots), any out-of-state expenses, or any above-the-line expenses.

The production budget for Mando & Grogu is reportedly around $166M; and that’s before the $21M tax credit they got from filming in California. That puts the net budget closer to $145 M. Using that 2.5x rule, this movie only needs about $360M–$400M worldwide to start being a win for the studio.  When your break-even point is that low, an $80M domestic opening isn’t a disaster; it’s a massive head start. If it follows the typical pattern for a family-friendly Star Wars flick, a domestic run over $200M is easily on the table, and once you add in the international box office, this movie is on a fast track to being comfortably in the black.

Anybody who read the official canon lore from the sequel period knows that the First Order had fuckall to do with Thrawn or Ahsoka.
