I finally discovered the reason for my extremely slow 'claude -p' usage, and it was, shocker. MCPs. "claude -p 'say hi' --strict-mcp-config" was near instant where as "claude -p 'say hi'" was hanging for like 30 or 40 seconds before responding. FYI this could be affecting you.

@peteralexbizjak we just shipped cursor support @CyrusAgent so you can do exactly that. Assign a linear issue to Cyrus and it runs cursor background agent but on a mac. we run it on a mac studio. been doing it for 8 months. decided to open source and build it out

The next thing we need from Cursor's cloud AI agents is to either have access to macOS VMs, or to point them to our own runners. It'd be a lot more useful purchase of a Mac Mini, rather than using these powerful machines to run AI assistants. So from that point, a self-hosted runner would probably make more sense.
