Although December’s face is sour, it is kind. Summer laughs, but also bums. When contraction comes, behold expansion within it! Be fresh and do not throw wrinkles upon your brow!

@jupiters_string @NatRothschild1 it's already baked in, the CfD equity swaps mean the higher the gas price the faster the governments LCCC Ltd account gets topped up with the difference turbocharging the renewables rollout.

As of today (March 19, 2026), UK wholesale natural gas prices (NBP benchmark) are currently about 6.7 times higher than US prices (Henry Hub benchmark). Let that sink in. #UKLabour #UKenergycrisis

Is credit market trying to tell equity market something? Spreads have barely move given current context though. But equity complacency is something else.

Too lazy to write a substack article about this so here you go, a substack note. TL;DR: being a mine within the USA is going to earn a substantial premium because well, the USA won't have a fuel shortage. GL to most other mines in other countries. substack.com/profile/107754…

I am not going to reveal the name of this large life insurance company, but those of you who thought 23x leverage was bad... meet this champ at 91x leverage. BTW, statutory accounting doesn't require marking assets to market, so this may or may not be the fair value...just saying

The $35B is Apollo consolidated equity. Athene standalone is ~$13-14B against ~$315B in assets. That's 23x. "It's IG assets" is a credit quality argument. Ok. multiply throughout insurance. The funding side (capital calls x surrenders), is the bear case.
