Whenever I bring up Chelsea midfield issues, people always point to the Jorginho-Kante partnership, but they often forget the role Mason Mount played as the No. 10. Mount was an absolute OOP monster whose pressing, work rate, and defensive contributions added a lot of balance to that midfield. The discussion also tends to oversimplify Jorginho's defensive ability. He wasn't a great athlete, but he was far from useless defensively. His positioning, anticipation, and understanding of space helped compensate for his physical limitations. The success of that midfield wasn't just about Jorginho and Kante, it was about how all three profiles complemented each other.
