@q91012wa @hpzj45678 If you want to be blue, feel free. It’s just a bit strange how offended some of you get when you’re not considered white, as if not being white were somehow a bad thing.
English

@roid1911 @chieFJT @mii_kim28969 I understand the confusion now, after being insulted for hours as if I were saying something completely different, I finally realized where the misunderstanding came from haha. But it’s okay, we’re all human, and that’s how communication works sometimes.
English

@chieFJT @justfr4nthings @mii_kim28969 Generally, when Koreans refer to "white skin" or "Caucasian" themselves, they are referring to their skin tone, not their race. The translator is malfunctioning depending on the context. If I say "bright skin," it translates to "light skin."
English

@0705Zunda_neko I also explained my point several times, and many of you understood it, so I believe that if you make an effort, you might understand it too. The point is: not being white is not a bad thing, so why were you all so offended?
English

@chieFJT @roid1911 @mii_kim28969 Brazil is a very diverse country. We have the largest Japanese population outside Japan, a large Lebanese diaspora, and people with European, African, Indigenous, Middle Eastern and Asian ancestry. Because of that, discussions about race and skin color are often important topics.
English

@chieFJT @roid1911 @mii_kim28969 It’s complicated. I have very fair skin and people often tell me I need more sun or that I look sick. At the same time, Brazil has a history of racism, and racism is a non-bailable crime here. We also have a strong tanning culture, so beauty standards can be contradictory.
English

@f233_w60816 @mii_kim28969 I’m aware of that, and honestly it’s not really an issue for me. Every country has its own culture. I was simply pointing out a fact, and there was never any intention to be offensive.
English

@lindsaylxox @mii_kim28969 I am a Brazilian with very fair skin, but in some countries, such as the US, I would simply be seen as Latina rather than white. And I’m completely comfortable with that ✨
English

@lindsaylxox @mii_kim28969 I think we actually agree on more than you think. I never said East Asians value pale skin because they want to be Western or white. My point was simply that pale skin has historically been considered a beauty ideal.
