I’ve seen a lot of communities fall into the same mindsets whenever situations like this happen ie: “believe the victim” vs. “innocent until proven guilty.” Both are very important but when either is treated as absolute, it becomes harmful for both sides. Supporting someone who comes forward isn’t the same as declaring someone else guilty, and respecting due process isn’t the same as dismissing allegations. These situations are life altering for everyone involved, which is exactly why they shouldn’t be decided by online outrage. I saw a lot of individuals initially hate posting over this scenario being taken to court and making jokes when it just shouldn't ever be that way. Taking something like this to court isn’t avoidance, it’s a form of accountability. Serious accusations deserve evidence, structure, and certainty. Definitely not a trial by social media especially in a community filled with minors.

the community is just so reactionary you can’t have dialogue anymore. and trying to do that on twitter of all places is absolutely impossible

I would highly encourage ALL people in the Splatoon Community to read this. If you have ever Supported Gem / Squid School in the past and heard about the serious allegations put against him. I personally believe he is innocent and I think its such a shame that this escalated this far to the level that it did.

Decided before playoffs began I was either quitting or taking an extended break from competing (Dec 21 I’ll play cause some friends asked prior) I don’t feel the same passion anymore. NAL was stressful for me and I’m sorry especially to my mates that I wasn’t enough.
